Hi all,

Just wondering if I could get some feed back about any pro's/con's between the two pistols. I'm looking at getting a .22 in the near future and looking for some input.
Thanks.

I have neither, but have been doing research on the same subject and I wish there was a definite answer; kind of a Ford vs. Chevy question.
I'm looking at a Buckmark Camper, or a Ruger 22/45 5.5" Blue, bull-barrel (both low-cost, entry level .22 cal. pistols). The 22/45 has a different frame material (Zytel polymer) and grip angle than the regular Mark III, like a 1911 grip angle - possibly a plus to consider if you are going to shoot center fire pistols later on. From what I can gather, either one will perform well and reliably for you with most ammo. It is best to shoot each first, if possible, to see what fits your hand best; if not, at least go to a store and hold them to see which feels the most comfortable. Many people say that the Ruger is a pain to field strip and clean, but after watching a youtube video by jimmybuzzkill, I find that hard to believe. I couldn't find a good video for the Browning that was as well done, or made the stripping seem as easy; maybe I missed something there.
AFAIK: the Ruger comes with 2 mags. is drilled & tapped for a Weaver scope base adapter which is included. The Buckmark has one mag. and is not drilled. The Ruger seems to have an advantage in availability for after market upgrades if you want.
I still haven't decided as I hope to shoot both soon as I can arrange it. I'm sure others will submit more advice too.
Good luck.

Which one feels better in your hand?

The Buck Mark felt better to me, I ended up buying the Field 5.5 and have been very pleased. If you buy the Buck Mark Camper and want to add optical sights I think you need to but a rail either from Browning or an aftermarket source. The barrels on the Browning are easily interchangeable, at least one company (Tactical Solutions) besides Browning makes barrels.

I have shot the Ruger and it functioned very well but I am not sure what is available for aftermarket parts.

Either way you will surely enjoy a 22LR pistol

Have a ruger Mark III, crazy accurate, put on a tasco red dot scope from cdn tire for 50$. Hits everything, always. Buck Mark might be a bit easier to clean but who cares, hitting the dot is hitting the dot. Did my research and ended choosing the right one.

I bought a 22/45 with the 4.5" bull barrel and can't complain. Stripping for cleaning is a pain as Ruger forgot one key bit of info in the manual but a gunsmith friend of mine set me straight. Have put well over 2,000 rounds through it with only a handful of problems, usually with one particular brand of ammo. Tried mounting both a red-dot and a 2.5X scope on it and it becomes a death ray!! Shooting off of my day pack at our clubs 2x3" gong(50M), with scope mounted, I was able to empty the mag in less than 9 sec. with 10 hits. It ALWAYS does what I ask of it and has never missed a trip to the range.
