The new SAVAGE "EDGE

I handled one today, wasn't particularly impressed. The magazine release screams please break me. The over all finish is what I would expect from a rifle of this price range and its probably over all better than the 770 but I still wouldn't buy it. The bolt uses Savages floating bolt head but the bolt handle is a cheap cast one, which would be stronger than the 770's but it still doesn't really inspire confidence. I guess this gun has a market but I personally think Savage made a mistake in bringing this out.

Dante has (had) Stevens 200s - I hummed and hawed, and got the Stevens in .223 and Weaver bases - The seventh round with my Swift 4-14x40 was a bullseye, and rounds 8-12 was 1 MOA. I stopped at 12, because I couldn't stop giggling - it was just waay too much fun to shoot (my other bolt action is an Enfield, so I'm not used to "seeing" the rounds hit the target :)

Of course, I have downloaded all the DIY camo stock pics from CGN, and will Krylon the stock eventually.

Well I enjoy seeing new products on the market and I love Savage, my Stevens 200 in .223, and .270 both shoot half MOA, and even 1/4 MOA when the precision gods are smilin down at me. I see no reason to look at this rifle any further with the Stevens 200 still on the Market! A little krylon and you got yourself the best rifle you can buy for 350 bucks!

Well I'll be picking one up in .22-250 for my first yote gun. Personally I think it looks better than the Stevens. Do animals care what the gun that took them down looked like??
All the reviews say it's shooting under 1 moa out of the box. I'm sold

I was ordering a SAV 1 trigger from Rifle Basix this morning and he asked me if they were selling the Edge in Canada yet, I told him yes and I had looked at one. They have purchased one so they could look at building a trigger replacement for it. He says they have slightly modified the Sav 1 to fit the Edge. Should be ready for market soon. Solves the 7lb trigger problem! Aparently over 35,000 Edge rifles have been sold in the US already.

nice......maybe someone will make a stock for it that isnt' so ugly.

You are crazy!

Fugly. Save your money and buy a Stevens. :p

I don't care if the thing looks like a scoped toilette plunger.
If a rifle groups < 1 moa with factory ammo, is tough and robustly constructed, not too heavy and costs < $350 I'll be buying one.
Beauty is in the 10 ring on the target paper and on the price tag.
The thing is a game harvesting tool.
I hate pretty guns that I'm afraid to scratch or dent.
My guns sometimes bounce around in the boxes of pick ups and lay on the bottoms of canoes.
Cheap, tough, reliable and accurate trump pretty every time.
Give me an edge over a holland and holland every time and I'll pocket the difference and by a new atv.
