hi everyone
i have a walther p1 pistol on order and i was wondering wat was the best ammo to get for it? i heard certain kinds can lead to frame cracks or something.

Don't use flat points, don't use any +p.

I've heard 147grain winchester SXT/Talons/T-series HP actually feed in a lot of these.

Other than that, these were made for standard ball ammo. Any hollowpoints will have to be trial and error for your gun, but I've heard most won't reliably feed.

I've always used 115 gr. or 125 gr. FMJ rounds in my P1. I've read that there had been instances of slides developing cracks, but I believe that was because of use of very hot cartridges in the +P range, and because of very heavy usage. I believe if you use standard loads, just shoot occasionally, and are not on an intense shooting schedule like IPSC practice, your gun should be OK. After all, it was built for that.

Mine prefers 124gr but I believe anything up to 147gr is OK. I don't think the hotter loads are good for the pistol though so I would avoid anything in the +P range.
