Hello all you left handed shooters out there,I have a friend from work who is looking to buy a good light mountain rifle, something around the seven pound(bare rifle) mark or even lighter. He had his heart set on a kimber but they dont make a left handed rifle. So who does make a nice light left handed mountain gun ?What is everyone shooting?

Iam lefty also and there is no easy answer to that question Tika makes a good rifle but to much plastic for the dollar just my 2c ,Savage good acuracy fare price rough edges but a lot of aftermarket addons slightly heavier , Remington you can get what you want but the price just went up and less avalable, Ruger Heavy not so much addons but good bang for the buck , A great one is find a good shape winchester 70 lh in a featherwieght one of my nicer all around guns in my safe in 270wsm again not a easy question go to a few gun shops and shoulder a few

Light weight + left hand = doing it your self or
buying custom .
7 lbs is'nt that light though
get the Tikka.
I just remembered
Browning A Bolts make your weight limit also.

Plastic VS over engineered pot metal
buy the Tikka.

My 2 cents, the Tikkas synthetics have a stock that feels way too cheap. The hunter (wooden) stock feels better but they feel too big...for me. Although, the action is super smooth. I've had a Remington 700 lefty and it was nice but the action wasn't as smooth as the Tikka or my new Browning.

I just picked up a Browning A-bolt Micro Hunter Left handed in 300wsm and it's a nice gun. Nice quality even though it's considered their bottom line rifle. I would consider it a "Mountain gun" with an overal length of 41.5" and a weight of around 6.5lbs. If you can find one in .308 the overall lenght is 39.5". The problem is finding them.

Good luck.

X2 for a winchester 70 build I cant say enough for a 3 position safety and the bolts are more than reliable for any build just finding one may be a problem i will not give mine up and kinda kick myself for selling the other I had

I have a Savage 99c in 308. Tang safety so its ambidextrous. They can be had in featherweights up to 308. Or single shot rifles are often tang safety too ie Ruger No 1. They go up to the big cals like 416 and down to 22cf

CZ makes some very nice lefties only a little bit more expensive than the righties. I have a CZ452 and a CZ527 in leftie and they sure are a delight to shoot. I am sure there are lefties out there that shoot right but they may never have had a chance to shoot a dedicated left bolt. Should qualify that a bit. Any lefties in my area that are in doubt are welcome to follow me out to the range to find out for themselves in that case. RH actions for me are just plain cumbersome. Depends a lot on how far into the leftie thing you are too-how much of your sight is left or somewhere between. Shades of grey. As for the Browning-I picked up a Micro Medallion for a friend at Maynards auction in April in 7mm-08 and even though it was a right hand gun I had some trouble giving it up. Sure is a purdy little gun.

I love the browning abolts. Have had nothing but good results from them, own 2. Tikka's also work well, so do the rem 700's but why they put a 24" barrel on those things is unknown to me. CZ's selection of LH rifles is poor or should I saw non existent when you get into the larger cartridges

For a speciality rifle like that just tell him to buy a right handed action. custom rifle =3000 bucks, used custom rifle= 900 dollars.
