So heres the story.

I have a near new bushmaster that I have only been shooting a month or so now.
It has the flat top with detachable carry handle. I know that the rail maintians zero but I constantly fiddle with the handle and sight.

I want to put an optic on when I get the cash but for now I would like to put on a flip up rear sight. that way I can get used to it and not take it off or play with it, Then I can just mount the optic when Im ready.

So question is what is a good brand/style BUIS? I dont want to spend a fortune but want a quality piece.

MBUS by Magpul.

I better ask the question now so I dont find out otherwise after buying one.

This MAGPUL one would work with a standard height front sight post?

Go with Troy. Much better than the Magpul BUIS. The Magpul look cheap.

You can get Troy from Arms East.

There are pics of them on my thread about my AR.

Ya I think so too. I`m definately NOT drinking the Magpul koolaid on their BUIS, I like the Troy products better.

None of these battlesights will be as precise as your carry handle sight tho.

Troy all the way.

Used one on both my tours to Afghanistan and they held up to all the abuse and never lost zero.

They are also very low profile, so if you end up going the route that I did with a variable power optic, it helps with clearance issues. Along with that it gives you more options on rings and mounts, I know my Leupold super high rings with my NF 1-4x would not have cleared the Magpul MBUS, for example.

All this being said, I can with first hand knowledge recommend Troy, KAC, and the MATECH. I've seen all these used overseas and they all got an A+ from their users. Midwest Industries gets a thumbs down, and I suppose it's a personal thing, but I can't trust plastic BUIS.

+1 for Troy, very simple, sturdy, and very low profile when folded. Plus they look "cleaner", maybe less chance of catching a sling on it or something.
