Has anyone had this issue? This is the Police model, it shoots very reliable, accuracy is not perfect, but good at 25 yards, but man does it like to mangle brass, mostly on the last round but a few in the middle of the mag as well. If anyone has had this issue and would like to share what they did to stop, your advice is more then appreciated. All the damage is at the opening of the empty case, it literally crushes 2 sides of the brass in towards each other.

Hey Steve, I picked up mine from Marstar in 1995"ish". Yep it mangles one every few mags, runs great and shoots well had the Armco treatment ;)

But some of the brass looks like the case had been crimped like on a blank.

Never an issue with my Springfield.

Dented brass is not uncommon in a new 1911. I suspect the extractor / ejector needs some attention. Tuning involves properly tensioning and radiusing the extractor and adjusting the point at which the ejector contacts the spent case. Lot of info on this (google is your friend). The dents are caused by the case hitting the sides of the port on the way out and can range from small marks to the major mashing you describe.

So you finally got it eh Steve?

I had a similar issue with my Ruger P345 and was told it was the extractor. Before I had a chance to do anything about it, the problem went away.

My Norc 1911 has never dented the brass, even when new.

However....
It eats nothing but handloads. A friend of mine has a new Para 1911 and it was doing exactly what you describe. I handed him some of my loads and the problem stopped. I don't load them overly powerful, but I suspect they are slightly more stout than factory rounds.

Another thought, perhaps swap the oversized slide stop for a standard 1911 style slide stop.

I did this as soon as I got my Norinco Police Model and I think it helps contribute to helping the last empty eject more positively by making it easier for the magazine to lock the slide back.
