FNAR .308 Feedback

That is probably one of the most ugliest firearms I have ever lay my eyes on.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if it was an accurate, quality-made gun. Is it non-restricted?

According to Questar's website, they have a 20 inch barrel, so yes, they're non restricted. From what I've read, they're basically a dressed up Browning BAR with a detachable proprietary magazine.

The reports I have read stated that they were quite accurate. But FN says that you have to send it back for tune up after some number of rounds. That was what really turned me off and not the looks, although I agree that this is not the best looking rifle.

I did read some good reviews in magazines.
From what I remember, you would make a big step-up in accuracy (vs standard M14) and a little step down in reliability.
There's about no after-market for it. It's just accurate as-is. Quite different from the AR and M14 with endless customization.

Did you google it?
Let us know if you find serious reviews.

I am the happy owner of a FNAR bought at Questar (great service as usual). It is non-restricted (20" heavy barrel), and my experience is very good. Nice groupings at 50, 100 and 200 yards.

I put on it an ELCAN Spectre 1.5X - 6X, with reticle calibrated to .308/7.62mm NATO. Heavy and sturdy scope, made in Canada. The picattiny rails are great to quickly attach scope and laser, various gadgets.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I like it very much.

This is a real rifle, heavy, solid, made in the USA. I intend to hunt with it this fall (Moose and Deer), I like cardio training, so walking all day with that weight will be good for me...

See below the rifle, with my first target.

Nice looking rig. Thanks for posting photos. Rifle has a good reputation for accuracy. Have you had an opportunity to try longer ranges, ie. 300 out to 500 yards?

Not yet, only 200 yards is the longest distance I have been able to test. I don't know ranges within driving distance that have longer distances than that...

One could argue that a range over 200 yards IS driving distance. Little I hate more than having to go for a hike to change out targets. :)

Hi Tarkus,

I don't know in which area you are. If you PM me, I might be able to help.

You could also look on Google map for transmission lines nearby. If a few km from dwellings, it should be fine.

Cheers,
Phil
