The Websters Definition of tactical:

2 a : of or relating to tactics: as (1) : of or relating to small-scale actions serving a larger purpose (2) : made or carried out with only a limited or immediate end in view b : adroit in planning or maneuvering to accomplish a purpose

I would think the only ***tactical application of a 10/22 would be crowd control, a good travel gun if you had to run as it is light as is the ammo, maybe hunting small game. So a giant, heavy and bulky 10/22 designed to look like an AR type of weapon but with none of the power seems sort of the opposite of tactical...however it is tacticool and I do enjoy looking at them, and loved the one I built...and sadly sold :(

So this got me thinking, a truly tactical 10/22 would be as light as possible, but durable and accomplishes this without losing accuracy. This I think would come mostly from being able to hold and fire it comfortably, as even if it was just a barrel and trigger I don't think the "kick back" would be enough to effect accuracy.

Anyone have a picture of a 10/22 they built with this in mind? I am thinking of making this my next project :)

***This is another just for fun project. I do not anticipate requiring a weapon for any of the above reasons and am fully aware of the unlikelyhood of any of the above scenarios. It is just fun to have a goal and then build towards it.

Go Wolverines! Just kidding :)

The only people to ever field the 10/22 was the Israeli army. They integrally suppressed it and it was supposed to be used for non-lethal crowd control. However they quickly bumped it to lethal and then removed it from service...

These are the only tactical applications of a 10/22 that I've ever seen evidence of. Everything else is just a target, plinker or hunting rifle, no matter how you dress it up.

My contribution for consideration:

While I do still own this rifle, it is no longer in this configuration - but when it was, I found it to be quite compact, accurate and very reliable.

Sadly, a folding stock, which would have made for a very compact set-up, would have reduced its overall length to less than 660mm. :(

I got mine out of the US from straight from Tactical Inc about a year ago when they would still ship them to Canada. Sadly, I believe this is no longer the case. :( I hope you find some though because they are simply the best. :)
