OK, I need the input of some other Nutz. Daddy has decided he deserves a reward for a rough last year but I can't decide. I've wanted a Kimber Montana ever since I held one and I've always wanted a nice .270 in the rack (damn you, Jack O'Connor!
) but have never owned one yet. So, I'm thinking an 8400 Montana in .270 would be a great investment but I'm a little gun shy because of all the Kimber horror stories I have read. If I went this route, I figure a high-end 3-9x would be a good fit.
My other option is to spring for a Cooper, but if I do that I'd go in a different direction as I'd love to try a Phoenix in .220 swift or .243AI and set it up as a long range 'yote sniper/bait pile gun. I've never had a chance to see or hold a Cooper though and it's a lot to spend sight unseen. I'm thinking Leupold LR 6.5-20 for this setup.
What would you guys do? All thoughts are welcome.
