The factory trigger on my M305 was heavy with lots of hammer drag and a bit of creep. Thom tuned it to a crisp and ultra smooth 4.5 pounds. Since then my groups have shrunk from 3.5 moa to the 1.5-2 range. That's with the cheap 150 gr blue box Federal Power-Shoks. Now to practice, practice, practice and to find factory stuff that my rifle likes the best.........until of course I start reloading again.

Thanks for everything Thom. Enjoy the interior. If you ever get tired of the peace, quiet, space, freedom, great hunting and miss city liberals you are welcome to drop by any time.

great news G.C. ..... did you ditch your scope and go back to the irons?
Bring that rifle of yours up to the new place before bear season closes (june sometime) and we'll get up to some fun :D

oh and this friday is :dancingbanana: Ma Birthday :dancingbanana: will be at our favorite range in the A.M. and that will be my last day as a LMZ resident ;)

The scope stays on. My eyes aren't what the used to be and in the last year I've noticed that they have gotten significantly worse. There are days when the target blends with the background and I have no idea where it is. This can happen even at 50m. For hunting I'll need the scope to make ethical kills. I'll talk to you soon Thom.

Thomas, what does one have to do to make the trigger pull smoother and approx 3.5-4 pounds pull?

Not a good idea on the M-14. The conventional wisdom amongst people who have made this platform their life's work is that anything less than 4.5 pounds can result in uncontrolled firing. The trigger becomes too light and can be set off by the pounding of the 308 semi-auto recoil. I'm sure the Doc will tell you the same thing when he responds.

Exactly... I'm tired of typing this warning over and over again. If you want a light pull on your .308, go buy an M700SPS Varmint/ LTR /Police/ XTR, Savage FP10, etc, etc, etc

If you want a smooooth pulling M14 trigger, grease the contact points; EASY Button time! :D

Stay hydrated, my friends! :)

Thanks for the advice Barney ... I'll try that with the grease and see how she pulls. :D

Barney - you forgot the 800 grit smoothing paste and the hockey game worth of "rubbing" - my trigger has never been the same! LOL!

I polished the SIDES of moving parts on one gun and it made a huge difference. The trick is to stone off the Parkerizing so the grease has fewer bumps and ridges to overcome.
