Glock recoil guide rod - slightly comes unseated?

is it normal for the Glock's recoil guide rod to slightly come unseated from the curved notch in the (underside of the) barrel? this is at the pivot / link area, where the end of the guide rod fits into the curved notch. it doesn't fall out, but after cycling it doesn't sit tight into the curved notch. just wondering if that's normal.

so far, i'm just handling, dry-firing, and taking it apart to get accustomed to how it all works and feels. seems awfully simple and easy to use!
 
I've wondered about that myself, but decided it must be normal. They've only sold about a trillion of them, so I figured it probably won't come undone. It sure seems unstable, though.

It is not normal for it to slip out. It could be a problem with the spring, or the Oprod was not seated properly prior to reattaching the slide to the frame.

Dry fire the gun (20-30 times) and see if the problem reoccurs. If not then take it to the range and put a round through it, and remove the slide and see if the rod is in its proper position.

Do this a number of time, each time increase the number of rounds by 1 to see if the problem re-occurs. If not then you are good to go and likely it was a result of something else....like not being correctly seated before the slide was attached prior to you noticing the problem.

actually, that's sorta what i just figured out. during normal operation the end of the guide rod rests against the receiver and not the barrel, so only during takedown does it rest against the barrel's cutout. so, if it's off by a bit at that time it don't matter since it's being taken apart anyways!









this is why we need transparent pistols.....
