Thought I'd post pics of my Enfields I picked up. One was bought at a gun show while the other was put together from multiple pieces. Both are in great shape and were FTRed in the 50s.
I think smellie might like the No4 mk1 Long Branch as I am fully restoring it to military stock before I sell it. The scope rail is the B-Square so no drilling required. The one thing that caught my attention was the entire barrel tip was intact, usually cut off when sported......defiled!!
The tactical was already defiled by it previous owner when they installed a T01 rail.......badly so I went further. I removed the rail after the screws snapped and installed an ATI Weaver. The stock was crumbling as well so I decided to try Ram-Lines synthetic stock since I still needed a hunter. Some smarta.... spraypainted the metal so I spent a few bucks and reblued it myself. The last thing I did was install the 6-24x42 scope. I recently pegged a coyote chasing cattle at the 1800 yrd mark, I'll check the load but it was a 308 dia (Barrel has issues with anything bigger...ie gets red hot after 3-5 shots). On the side in bold stamp are FTR-1953, the records I found indicate this rifle served in both WW1 and WW2 with some time in Korea as well.......thats where the paper trail ends.
If anyone is interested in either of these PM me for more info or just leave a comment.http://s898.photobucket.com/albums/ac182/Trakker262/Rifles/?albumview=slideshow
