Hi guy's,
I was wondering what your thought's are on being the best sling for your AR ? Do you like the 2 point, 3 point or just the one point, and how about mounting them what's everybody's opinion. it seem's to me that the vicker's seems to be very popular and suggestion's would be great.
thank's marc

BFG Vickers sling. Used it on 2 tours, still good to go.

I am a firm believer in 2 point slings, they control the rifle on transitions, make it possible to put your weapon behind your back when encountering obstacles or treating casualties, and distribute weight well.

1 point slings, in my opinion, are for SMG's or very short carbines, guys doing purely urban ops or people just trying to look cool. And in my opinion, it's usually the latter. I saw alot of guys switch to 2 point slings after the first time they knelt down to treat a casualty, and proceeded to promptly spike their muzzle into the dirt.

3 points I find just unnecessarily complicated and a general pain in the butt.

Just my opinions, keep in mind they come from a low speed infantry type.

It takes less time to switch the Magpul MS2 to two-point than it does to do anything with the BFG Vickers sling, IMO.

Different strokes for different folks though.

I'm going to have to side with the BFG Vickers on this one. It is the best sling I've ever used. I prefer a 2 point sling so my rifle doesn't flop around like a pendulum. As for the attachment, I personally like the push button swivels. One on the stock and one at the back of the hand guards, like this:

It took me about 5 minutes to become comfortable with the MS2's adjustments, and it's amazingly comfortable as a two-point rig. The quick release and the single-point option are huge additional selling points, IMO.

Talk to blaxsun, he's a dealer on the board - I got mine from him.

Just make sure you have access to an armorer's wrench to get the buffer tube off - installing the ASAP plate means replacing the retaining plate on your buffer tube.

Is there a mount that you can get where you dont have to remove the buffer tube or is removing it a peice of cake and where would you get that tool.

Might want to look into Tactical Link sling system. I don't know how good it is, but one of the models has an end plate that seems to mount easily. Check out GP Tactical and DS Tactical. Both are Tactical Link retailers.

There are sling-mounting backplates that just clamp on to the buffer tube, but I don't know where to get 'em at the moment...

If you're in or near Edmonton I'd be happy to use my AR15 wrench to do yours for you though.
