Hello all,

I'm a novice gun owner, just bought my first rifle from Wanstalls, this savage package in .308 win (http://www.wanstallsonline.com/product.php?productid=363&cat=9&page=1).

When I shot ~20 rounds (factory loads) through it, shots began to veer wildly (up to ~20 rounds, made pretty fair groupings). At around 30 shots through the gun, the receiver was noticeably loose in the stock. I tightened the two receiver bolts and the trigger guard screw, and all were completely loose (not even finger tight). I have since loctited all three, but haven't shot it again.

Is this something to be worried about or is it a one-off factory mistake? I can see it being a simple error, as in the bolts weren't torqued to their appropriate settings, especially since I haven't found anyone else online with this particular problem. Has anyone else experienced this particular problem?

One other problem (more minor) is the box magazine shifting after a shot and jamming, but that appears to be more common issue.

My gun did that too but I lost one screw, when I replaced and tightened them I just put some "BLUE" locktite on them. (I stress blue cuz red is like welding the bolts in). As for the mag insert it with the bolt open, rear first and give it a wack with your palm to seat it.

Its a common thing to happen. I have a buddy with a brand new Ruger 10/22 that used to shake loose the screws, until we put some Blue Loctite on the threads. I never have had the problem with my Ruger, so I actually had to see it with my own eyes to believe it, that a .22lr has enough recoil to loosen the screws.

Just put on some Blue Loctite, and everything will be fine.

i had the same problem with my leverguns. i now have everything medium locktited also. it makes perfect sense that recoil will loosen screws.
