What kind of scope is that?

Richard, I think the spirit of the gun is awesome, I really don't see the need to switch out the barrel unless weight is a concern...it has the same general outline of the C7 without the sneaky NM float tube...I am running a similar setup ...

Arghh, Don't do it Quiet!

HBAR barrel? I'm filing a protest with the CRO! :)

C7 and M16a2 barrels are what is described as "Govt. profile" by some US barrel manufacturers. They are pencil thin under the handguards, and heavy outside the handguards. Many of the Colt sporters were like this too.

I figure the extra weight in and of itself incurs more detriment than benefit, but that is argueable. It was the only 20" barrel I could find that had the right twist.

I'm currently doing the best I can to simulate CF ammo specs and performance. Those 62gr ARMSCOR FMJBT bullets are a god send. Any formulations out there that work best? Thanks Longshot for those specs.

Wow this thread was brought back from the dead.
C7A1 fans out there?

Anyhow I don't have much to update except I have managed to procure a diemaco 1913 spec barrel clamp for attachments. More weight but she looks FANTASTIC! :)

I'm going to forgoe the front sight with the bayo lug. I'd love to have one but this rifle is quickly turning into a money pit. What remaining $$$ I do have must be invested in the C3 Sniper clone I'm building and 5.56 ammo. It is my intention to turn a few heads at the next BCRA SR match "Who the heck is that short furry guy with the hunch back that kicked my butt?".

The one thing I would LOVE to source is a proper C7A1 sling and single point harness. They pop up from time to time in the EE - I just need to be fast enough on the draw.

PS: Speckfire & Sparrow - your AR15's are BUTIFUL!
- thanks for sharing.

Pretty!

Others have summed up anything I was going to say about 1/7, pencil under handguards, etc.

Now, is that an early gen Elcan, or does it have the Gen IV base (spring between the two halves)???

As for recepies, I'm putting in 26.0 grains of Varget in commercial cases, with Winchester Small Rifle primers, OAL at 2.260", and a light neck crimp. Progressive loaded on my Dillon 550B, I leave it setup, and whenever I walk by, I pump out 20-30 of 'em.
