SAKO 85 Bavarian

Nice rifle, but why not go 7x64 and save 1/2 lb on the weight?

If you can afford one of those rifles, you can afford 7x64 brass and dies. ;)

.

I absolutely love mine and fondle it as often as I can.. chambered in 300wsm and the action works like summer tires on black ice.

I cannot see how you would be disappointed if you went this route!

I thought the famous Sealhunter battue was up for sale

Yeah, it has been. I am going to take it down though..

I have been having a hard time getting used to bolt actions...but have been convinced that I need to keep at it.

The Bavarian is another bolt action I know... just seem to be hitting a rut with rifles lately... a bit down about it too.

I just love the 7mm-08 and love the rifle... but after that first shot is off, I'm slower than s**t going up hill getting the second bullet in the air..

Frustration more than anything has me making foolish decisions...

I have one in 30-06. It's a very nice rifle, I'm not sure the cheek piece would fit everyone though.

Mine is a bit heavy though, scoped with a 3x9x40 Conquest it is over 9 lbs.

I've been drooling over the bavarian since i've known they existed. The only thing stopping me is the money and the fact that i really don't need one. My BRNO is keeping me mighty happy. Why are u thinking about the 7mm RM? Are you planning on it being an all around type rifle? Cause if it's just for close up i'd say stick with your 30-30 man. You've said before that you've been using one forever so if it's for close range than i'd stick with that. If you are planning to start shooting 300+ yards (and thats do-able in alberta no?) than the 7mm RM might be a good choice. Whatever you decide i hope it's a good decision.

P.S. We need another sealhunter drinking W/ Elmo video sometime soon man. That sh*t is epic. :D

I don't ask me what I'm thinking with the 7mm, cause I don't even know...
I have decided to just stay with the 7mm-08 and the 30/30 as my big game rifles and shoot the #### out of 7mm-08.

I'm thinking another vid is soon in the making...

Hard to get an opportunity

My elderly father (88years young) bought one in 30.06. I put a Leupold VXII 2-7 x 33 on it & and sighted it in for him. After 8 rounds it did 3 @ about .75"! .... with Rem.Core-locks!!
The build quality and action is typical Sako quality. The ergonomics of the humback cheekpiece and palm swell were surprisingly good.
I would however rank it "too pretty to use" for an active hunter. Its got more curves than Pamela Anderson and I couldn't bear to see it mussed up if it were mine.
