Norinco 1911 9mm Hi Cap

I have never seen or handled the high capacity Norc 1911.

First, it is the same fat frame as the 45 hi cap?

I find the Browning HP a little fatter than I like.

But the Para Ord 45 hi cap feels perfect.

Unfortunatly I don't have any experiance with any other 'hi-cap' 1911.....

I do have a pair of Calipers, and no plans for the evening...... Want some measuremnets?

It is pretty fat IMHO, fatter than a sig 226 grip with rubber grips, but narrower than a 226 with wood grips. I bought some slim grip bushings for it but I haven't installed them yet as I have yet to find slim grips I want to put on my pistol. I think that with the right slim grips it would be about the same as my standard frame 1911 with the big fat Houge wrap around grips on it.

If you cannot measure the width of the metal frame, can you measure the thickness, with grips for me?

I've once seen a double stack Norinco 213 the mag held 14 rounds IIRC but never a double stack 1911 Norinco.

That's because they (Norinco) were banned in the USA before they started to manufacture them. Commonly available when the importers get their stock, up here in the True North .

Hi-cap frame with factory grips: 1.466" in the middle, 1.461 at the top and 1.479 at the bottom

Colt with Houge wrap around rubber grips: 1.317 middle, 1.264 top & 1.323 bottom.

Hi-cap frame with no grips; 1.015 top, 1.010 middle & 1.009 bottom.
Depth of grip with no grips installed (front to back, including mainspring housing):2.230 bottom, 2.041 middle (just below start of grip saftey) & 1.980 just under trigger guard including but not depressing grip saftey.

Colt frame with no grips; .757 top, .762 middle & .753 bottom.
Depth of grip with no grips installed (front to back, including mainspring housing):2.136 bottom, 1.984 middle (just below start of grip saftey) & 1.994 just under trigger guard including but not depressing grip saftey.

Unfortunaly my earlier referance to a Sig 226 was with a friends firearm so I don't have immediate access to it. I could get those #'s on Sunday (that is when I plan to see him next).

Just bought an NP-30N. Will see what it feels like compared to my single stack Taurus.

Thanks for the dimesions. I can compare those to my double stack Para Comm.

Your pistol is about 0.3" thicker than single stack. Does not sound like it is too much.

Edit: CJust measured my Para Commander, which is a double stack 45 and comfortable in my hand. It measures about 1.13 across the middle of the frame, so the double stack 9mm is not as thick. That means it will fit just fine. Thanks.
