I'm finally getting the 858 out to the range tomorrow AM. What range would you guys suggest as a zero for it's Burris Fast Fire? I am guessing 50 - 75 yards?

Does anyone have a chart on the expected bullet drop/yards for Czech surplus as well?

Any help or input is appreciated.

depends on your intended target size, if it is going to be small go for 100m it if bigger 200m is ok.
Most eastern block scoped aks were zeroed for 100m.

Most 7.62x39 army loads are almost identical when it comes to trajectory, there is one exeption it is Yugo ammo it was normally loaded hotter then the rest of them by about 25 meters per second at the muzzle

I zero my Bushnell TRS-25 RDS at 50m. Shooting 12" steel plates I can do a center hold on them out to 150m and have to start aiming at the top of the plate at 200m. Farther than 200m I just shut the RDS off and use the irons.

From what I've been told most Russian military guys that use scopes zero for 200m. Point being that even a head shot is dependable anywhere between 0-200 without messing with elevation. This translates to practical/sport shooting pretty well with this caliber especially with a red dot. The only issue you may have is the size of the dot... one reason I really like the 2MOA Comp series of aimpoints.

All that said if all you're gonna do is punch paper at 50m then zero it for 50m. If you plan to hunt etc with it then get more serious.

I have a aimpoint compm4s 2 moa on my CZ-858.

I have zero it at 25 yards.
At 50 yards i'm 2 inch up
At 100 about 4 inch
At 200 close to bull

I dont know if you can do that with the burris ?

& with a 4 MOA you are always bang on.
As the X39 preaty much drops off after 200 meter's and after 300 meter's accuracy of this round makes for a gong shoot ;)
