I feel youTotally agree with that.. same goes to the beretta neo (or whatever it's called) and the walther P22. At least the mosquito *does* look like a pistol.

I thought about getting a SIG Mosquito, but then i thought maybe i should just get a .22 conversion kit for a 1911.

This is a great debate: Get a conversion of a full pistol. For the same price, you can actually get a conversion, or a 1911-like complete pistol in 22lr (Chiappa Kimar 1911-22 from canadaammo or GSG 1911-22 from Blueline).

given the same dollar figure, unless you have no friends or you're antisocial or selfish, i'd say get a separate pistol. kinda hard to take someone new with you and hand them just a barrel & mag and say "well, that's all i have, so, um, yeah, good luck with that!"
What about training with your existing pistol for much cheaper to be a better shot instead of going from one pistol that shoots a certain way to another that's completely different? Ie trigger pull, handling, feel ..etc..etc.. I have 6 conversion kits. I'm very selfish
there's that angle of consistency, i'll give you that.
but the flip side is that if you can be a good shot with a variety of pistols, then you'd truly be a good shot, and not just "good as long as you only shoot this one specific type of firearm"
that's why whenever i go to the range, i'll shoot whatever i can get my hands on. glock, 1911, big revolver, small revolver, target pistol, etc. if it's a handgun i'll shoot it.

x2 on perfecting more than 1 gun - become a better overall marksman by learning how to adapt to a variety of firearms rather than one specific (if you have been following Top Shot you can see the weakness in a variety of shooters because of this)
yeah, at that point, it's alright - but one gun plus one conversion is probably too limiting. if you have 3+ normal guns and a conversion for each, then it's a pretty good setup.

You're using the high velocity ammo with that Mosquito. That stuff works fine. Using the standard velocity ammo is what seems to be the cause of most FTF and FTE problems. The standard velocity ammo just doesn't seem to have enough recoil force to reliably work the slide and #### the hammer. I have heard that a lighter recoil spring will solve the problems.
This is a sentence that ought to be pasted into every .22LR pistol thread....
