Not all are ex OPP rifles. Canadian Arsenals Limited did sell to the public, usually via the DRCA clubs. But there are some examples around that did go brand new, from CAL to civilian gun owners.

Don't know if there has ever been a 7-11 held up, or a girl's college blasted with a C1 or not, but there are a few of them around.

There was the so called "Beatle Bandit" during the 60s who used a Browning sold FAL sporter to hold up several banks in Toronto and killed at least one person before being stopped.

The FAL is in the TPS museum as far as I know.

Not a C1 but during the Gustafsen Lake standoff, convicted native occupier William "Wolverine" Jones Ignace was seen firing his L1A1 at a passing RCMP helicopter. He would later burn his SLR in a pit fire before surrendering himself to the police.

Oh , lol...I feel smarter already :)

Actually, I was replying to the people that replied to the thread I posted . But it seems "unnatural" to some. I enjoyed what people posted and got more info on the C1A1 . Got to see some nice collections . Makes me want to get one even more.

And I apologize to whomever thought I replied too much. I guess it's less noticeable in a conversation but since it's in posts the to and fro is kind of lost.

I have seen them for sale at a gun show in Edmonton. The guy had two of the kits and he was selling them for $1500. ea. At $1000.00 you were getting a deal.

Another member just told me that he sold his for 1850$ yesterday.
They're becoming a rare breed.
