Do you all have a really difficult time getting a hold of someone at the CFO office, in Ontario?

I have called the correct number and went through the menu pressing the same keys that I do for a firearms transfer – this allows me to get transferred to the Ontario CFO office and leave a message. I have left four messages over the course of several months (once for an ATT to bring a pistol to a gunsmith) and no one has returned any of my calls.

I have also called the office directly, where I am put on hold. I have done this many times, three of which I was on hold for more then 35 minutes, and I have not been able to get a hold of anyone.

I am getting concerned because I move mid July and I need an ATT.

Anyway, surely I can’t be the only one having difficulty. Has anyone here found a better way of getting in contact with the appropriate person???

Call your MPP. Call your MP. Explain your situation.

I will bet that if anyone can get a prompt response, it will be your elected official.

I just called the Ontario CFO office (non-toll free number) and left another message explaining what I did above.

Call the CFC and e-mail them as well: they tend to light fires under the CFO's @$$....

Do you have an e-mail address or number handy?

call CFO using this number 705-329-5522, I'm moving soon as well and got my ATT within 10 min.

good luck

If its like Regina, call the office and talk nicely to the secretary. I had the same trouble as you with my first, ATT. The secretary rubber stamped one for me in 5 minutes.

Go through the CFC and select option 1 - English, then option 1 - you know the extention, then dial 7503 and you get the office of the CFO in Orillia. I got an ATT in less than 10 minutes today.

If you don't have too many restricted firearms I'm sure the range you belong to can hold on to them while you get your ATT.

I moved once and couldn't get a hold of them. I finally reached them and told them the situation and they said no problem.

If they are going to force you to licence your firarms the least they can do is answer the phone!

I deal directly with the person responsible of ATT"s contact me directly via email and I will give you her extention. It may interest you that there is only one person in the whole province responsible for every ATT issued and for every reason there is. if you get her voicemail dont worry leave her a message.

You guys should hire some interns for the summer traffic! Seriously!

I must be blessed or too charming for my own good. I start my gun obsession just a year ago and have purchased three guns so far (another on order). I have also moved and last year had to arrange for temporary storage. I have had excellent service from the CFO and because of my wandering lifestyle have needed and got special service more than once. I work through just one person there and use both email and fax. I send an email and ask to be called when it is convenient. I make sure to include all the details of my requirement so that we don't have to double up on calls or emails. I don't know the politics of that office or the working conditions but every person I have dealt with has done the best that I could hope for. I'm hesitant to give you the contact numbers I use as I don't want to flood this particular person and ruin a good relationship. However if there is a secret to getting by difficult situations it is to remember you are dealing with people. Most try to do a good job and they don't get much in the way of thanks.
