Guys,

If you have acquired a Sage chassis and looking for a decent mounting solution that doesn't involve cutting down an Arms / SEI mount or backwards mounting a YHM 6" mount, a dealer here on CGN has the LaRue LT-608 available:

This was specifically developed by LaRue for the Sage chassis and is a drop in replacement for the M14DCSB Sage Detachable Cantilevered Sight Base which I have not seen in Canada yet.

This will work for both the M14ALCS Mod 0 and M14ALCS/CV Mod 1

i've installed one of those for a clients sage build and was quite impressed. good to see more availlable up here ;)
 
just purchased a Rock River Arms - Hi-Rise Cantilever Scope Mount from Questar. They go for about 100$ w/ tax. They are available in 30mm and 1". This may also be effective on the Sage. I haven't tried it out with the 7.62 Nato and so can't say if it will be able to eat the recoil. Anyway, should have it this week and will post range report after mounting.

BTW - what are the LaRue going for?

The LaRue goes for 3 times that here it seems.

It retails for $170 across the border.

Yeah, 329$can is almost twice the us price. But including tax and shipping, that make sense.

I was about to order the LT-608. A search made me understand that there's no rear attachment to the LT-608, neither on the Sage DCSB.
So you have like 10" of gear hanging on the front rail.

According to H2Oman, the DCSB is better in that it has more gripping surface, preventing damage on the stock rail. As seen on the previous pictures, the Larue holds only by the two lugs: small pressure points.

I'll wait until Sage DCSB and rear sight base become available.

The point about the larger gripping surface of the DCSB is an interesting issue.

This makes me feel that I'll put a lighter optic on the LT-608 then.

No it won't. That is his UTG spacer rail that Dlask is making.
This new 1 is totaly different as so he say's. Hopefully his dail-up is on and he can comment more about what he is making. I guess that's y they call him a doctor.
As for dsynk I would look into the LARue SPR-E model.
As you can see in the pic's it works quite well when used in reverse.

FWIW, blaxsun works by you pre-paying and he takes quite a while to get you the item. I've not heard anything bad about this process other than it's possibly time consuming ;)

Too bad there's not similar canadian equivalent.

Or alternately, use a Troy stock and not a Sage.

I think I heard about this scope mount for the UTG rail. But do you believe it would fit with a Sage stock since the rail isn't the same height?

Do you have a picture of that rail?

No I am not talking about the UTG rail.
He has something else he was reffering to but I would ask him for the details.

this was a recent project that i was toying with while dlask worked on the utg rail extension that i hope they are making as we speak :rolleyes:
I'm sending this one off to a different outfit who offered to make it when we spoke last month. with my move and tying up the loose ends from before my move, I haven't had much time to get the ball rolling. when i have something i can be confident to show..... I will. my prototype works excellent and the few that have seen it also expressed keen interest. I'll keep you all posted as this project progresses.

Took about a month to get mine from Blaxsun.....not much of an issue.

attached the RRA mount from Questar yesterday. Works and looks very nice...only issue is that the 30mm rings will not close completely around the 30mm tube of my Millet DMS...

I'm using a YHM 1/2 riser with the 6" extention backwards to another YHM 1/2 riser sitting on top of a Sage M14SCSB stripper clip base.

It's actually a really solid rig, albeit a bit unwieldly since it's such a hodepodge of parts.

The simplicity and cleanliness of the LT-608 and M14DCSB is really alluring.

I'll try and post a pic tonight if anyone is looking for a cheaper alternative that works.

Although the LaRue SPR-E does look nice, the drawback for my setup is that you can't adjust the height with the rings. Having just a clean rail so that you can use your own height rings gives you a bit more flexibility when you are trying to mount various optics.
