Was using Czech surplus on the 100 yard boards at Ridgedale last night.
Almost no wind, nice and sunny- perfect weather for shooting.
Notice how I omitted pics of the other 6" dia. targets that I
barely tagged or missed completely!

Tried the duckbill mag late in the session (I bought thru Westrifle).
Worked great for the measly 5 rounds I had left. Wah, next time, etc.
Not much of a test at all, sadly.

Thanks guys. I was happy with 2 of those shots- the rest- not so much.
Every time out I'd like to think I get a little bit better but have a long way to

"a long way to go." The point is to have fun along the way!

Agreed- and so far it's been great fun. I never realized it would be such a challenge eliminating as much movement as possible when shooting.

I did try measuring my trigger pull with a fish scale- seemed to break around
6-8 pounds, but feels very solid to break. Haven't done the SailorCurt
trigger mod yet for positive engagement (assuming it even needs it).

Your shooting will improve. My shots looked just like yours. I am now shooting 4 inch groups, more or less, from 100 metres.

My best was fives shots, 3 inch grouping, 100 metres.

BTW, that is a nice looking SKS, especially with the 30 round steel mag.

Thanks- I hope it improves too. I am loving those bright orange 6" self-adhesive targets from Wholesale Sports. They were all sold out of the plain
ones last night so I had to buy the dumb-looking turkey head ones!

I got a trigger job done by a pro and it was worth it, I would say that's the single best modification you can get for your SKS.

I had a local gunsmith smooth out my trigger as part of my purchase! Worked a charm! My other SKS, which is a TAPCO conversion jobbie also shoots great on Czech ammo, and I am getting similar groupings at 4-5 inch at 100 yards. However, I never touched the trigger on it.

i'm hoping to have a scope on the SKS one day and see how much it helps.
