Can any tell me what's the correct lenght for a true M4 barrel? Is it 14.5" or 16"? The reason I'm asking is I really like the Stag Arms 2T model, it comes with a 16" stepped barrel. The Colts and Norc M4 replicas come with 14.5" stepped barrels. Also if anyone has a Stag Arms AR15, would you please comment on fit and finish and overall quality of the rifle. Thank you.

It's 14.5". The 16" is widely used because rifles must have a 16"+ barrel in the states, otherwise they are considered a SBR (short barreled rifle) by the ATF. So they have 16" barrels with the M4 profile, some have the 14.5" with a permanently fixed flash hider long enough to meet the 16" requirement.

The M4 is a CQC rifle with a 10.5" barrel. I also really like the stag 2T model, it however is an AR15/M16 however you can order the 10.5" barrel or whole upper and just swap it out. I have Also been considering the stag model with the 6.8 rather than the 556 as it is truly a devastating round. check youtube

A real Colt M4 has a 14.5" government profile barrel. Definitely not a 10.5" barrel. You may be thinking of the MK18 CQB rifle with the LMT produced uppers. CQC means Close Quarters Combat very different from Close Quarters Battle.

It's your opinion, I respect that, but it's not true. I'm not saying they don't make good AR's, they do, but it's not at the same level as LMT or Colt.

Actually the new shipment of stag uppers came in with the same barrels colt uses, wylde chamber(auccurized), M4 polished feed ramps, etc. etc. I'd say these stag uppers are def. on par with the likes...

Really? Cause I haven't seen a bad batch yet. I have seen bad LMTs and Colts. I'm basing this on the many LMTs, many Colts and many Stags I've owned. I would be interested to hear why you disagree. Since it's directly related to the OP's question, care to elaborate?

You need to stay in your lane. 10.5 is nowhere in the M4 TDP...

My bro is a Blackwater trained, cp specialist in afganistan and he carries a 10.5" barrel setup on his m4.... so thats where i was coming from..

Ive got some pics he sent me somewhere around here so i will scan and post them.... so you may be the judge cause i only know what he tells me... dont wanna start any arguments so i will let the pictures do the talking.... sorry if i am wrong...:ar15:

When you say "M4" - it is type classified by the US army and there is a whole bunch of documentation to go with the litte "M"

I don't doubt he has a 10.5, but it is not a "M4". Only Colt produces M4 and they are so marked in the receiver. If he worked for Blackwater in the past, he probably had a bushmaster..........

Not totally ;)

M16/A1/A2/A3/A4 20"
Mk12 Mod1 18" (all Mod0's where pulled)
Mk12 Recce 16"
SDM 20, 18, 16 (Depending on which Division commissioned them)
M4/A1 14.5"
Mk18 10.3" (note some units have bought 10.5 from LMT for their CQBR's)
Hk416 10.4"

Also some of SEAL units comissions some 12.5" guns so they could use a M203 and suppressor (for dual dipping CGI factor)
And now some weird harrold is running around screaming for 13.7"

Also keep in mind there are old CAR15 10", 11" and 11.5" systems floating around the Ranger Batt's arms rooms
AirForce has a tone of the old carbines.

CF
C7/A1/A2 20"
C8/A1 14.5
C8SFW/A3/FTHB 16"
C8CQB 10" then 11.5"
