300 wm BIG ENOUGH FOR deer

I never go smaller that .338 for deer because my brother's buddy's sisters' cousin's uncle's wife's brother once shot one in the head with a .300 WM and it just walked off. Darn near bullet proof them deer ...

Ya, well MY sisters buddy's aunts' stepfather uses a .22LR and for the last twelve years has bagged a record buck with the tested and true Texas Heart Shot. You can't trust those headshots anymore: with the acid rain and ozone hole back in the 80's and 90's coupled with the whole global warming thing they really got thicker skulls or something now. I read it on the interweb. A guy at wholesale sports confirmed it.

If you really want explosive fun, try 110gr Sierra HP's out of a 300. Truely vaporizes gophers, but a bit stiff to shoot lying prone for too long. But for deer, everyone on the net knows you gotta use the best premium bullets loaded to max velocities just to get their attention.............hmm, mabey I should just stick to my 350 Rem mag for these critters. ;):p:rolleyes:

Sometimes, rarely mind you, these threads resembble a scene from Lord of the Flies.

You have it all wrong. The best deer cartridge is a 32-20. The bullets sneaks up on them armored Whitetail beasts and slips between thier armored scales in the best dragon slaying technique. The pointy high speed bullets from a 300 Mag just ricochet off if your unlucky.

I prefer a 600 Nitro, even on Vancouver Island deer which are the size of a Border Collie

It's not the Island Deer that would give you a problem but with some of the Varmints, there's the true test for the knock down power of your calibre or cartridge of choice.

Get something that would handle even the biggest such as what you might come across in Manning Park.

My wife is a fan of the larger calibers. This is her favourite, the 308NRA is based on a scaled up 308. Coke can is for scale. Bullet is solid copper. Weighs 4,900 grains. (11.2 oz)

Why is everybody going so small????????

What you really need for those damned armored deer is a 120mm Sabot round!!!!!!

It will even come with it's own self-powered movable mounting platform!!!!!!

(otherwise known as a "tank":D)

The ultimate question is whether nukes are big enough for deer ..... of course, there will be those who think nothing short of the Massive Black Hole at the center of the galaxy is enough for deer. Maybe the ultimate question is whether the End of the Universe is enough for deer. The answer is probably '42'.
