Anybody got experience with the Springfield "Loaded" M1a? Has it also been subject the recent SA quality-control issues discussed on this board? Has the addition of NM components and SS barrel taken it to any higher standard of craftsmanship or is it potentially the same can of worms?

I think M14Doctor noticed a few issues with them before he went big country on us at his finnal Wet Coast clinic. Best bet would to be ask him.
As for me...
1 day I will save up enough $$$ to get my dream m14;

In the past, some of the stainless steel barrels on the loaded standard M1A models had rough chambers. That is the only issue I'm aware of unique to the loaded standard M1A. If assembled correctly, the loaded standard M1A is a very nice shooter based on reports I've read. I owned two of them, years ago, and they were good to go. In Canada, I don't see them as being worth the difference in price over a Chinese M14. You're paying beaucoup dinero for that American trim. ;)

None of us will be getting anything from Springfield with "7.62 Nato" anytime soon ...
Had a loaded M1A on order & was told it won't be shipped as it is labeled as a "7.62 Nato" firearm instead of ".308 Win" ... from U.S. side ...
I realize the price issues, but I like finer things without hassle.
Well looks like I'll have to buy a Norc and hope for one of the clinics to come to Ontario soon.

This is interesting. I have hear the same comment from one of the supporting member gun shops. However, one of the supporting member import agents has recently told me there is currently no issue in exporting a 7.62 rifle from the US. My request to the agent was in regard to an AR10, but he assured me that the issues around the 7.62 stamp were no longer valid. Other insights appreciated ...

My M1A is a loaded stainless-synthetic. Built in october 2001, I bought it used.
The only upgrade for now is a NM spring-guide.
With about 60rnd of practice and only one load tried (PMC 147gr FMJ), my best group are:
3rnd in 1.5" at 100m
5rnd in 7" at 300m
prone with iron sights.

I'm really pleased with that accuracy potential. I had a trigger problem that was fixed for free by Springfield Armory in 2009. My oprod face is a little off-set from the piston. Otherwise the finish and assembly seems perfect to me.

My recently sold loaded m1a was marked .308.
Fit and finish is far superior to the chinese imports. Function is the same.

I try to avoid chinese firearms (and most other things when given a choice) but the roughly 1800 dollar difference will buy you a lot of ammunition.

I don't have any experience with the 305 but my m1a would lock up occasionally, on a clean gas cylinder, easily cured with my boot.;)

YES. I got a lot of experience with the Springfield LOADED M1A rifles. I have 5 loaded M1A rifles ( sold one to a great CGN)and I also own 2 Springfield Super Match USMC rifles.
I have different set up on all the loaded M1A rifles, A.R.M.S mounting system, one with smith enterprises mounting system, and one with Springfield cluster rail system...and one with iron sight. I use all the loaded M1A rifles for shooting matches, both prone and off-hand. The loaded M1A shoot 2 MOA+/- @ 100 off-hand iron-sight constantly using sierra 150gr BTHP match. 1 MOA @200 at prone position (5 seconds apart). One of the best semiautomatic rifle on the market, never jam nor misfired, and love the craftsmanship...second to none!.
I hope this helps you.
cheers
