Got 70 rounds through my new to me SKS on the weekend, out of all 70, 2 of them did not eject and get flung out properly.

1 hit my right hand (I shoot left handed) landing by my foot.
The other (last in the magazine) did not even get flung out, it was left laying on top the mag follower.

Im thinking I should dissemble the bolt and inspect the little extractor piece.
Anything to watch for?

What else could cause this?

If you bought it used "clean" is generally open to interpretation.

I did remove the bolt, and it looked clean. So I simply oiled her up. You could be right, maybe there is junk buried in between the extractor and bolt.
There is a spring in there is there not? If that is week could that cause this also?

I haven't had an sks for while now, when I did though my ejection issues were actually due to the gas system not having enough pressure to properly cycle the action.

Since you have asked about weather there is a spring behind the extractor or not; I am going to have to assume you have never removed the firing pin and have done a proper cleaning of the entire bolt assembly. No big deal but it should be done after every couple hundred rounds and never leave it oily (will attract dirt and powder and turn to glue on you.):(
Just a thin even coat on the sides, keep the face as dry as possible.
All that aside I think Farlsincharge has it right about the gas system. Make sure you not only clean the piston and tube after EVERY use. (especially with berdan primered rounds) Don't forget to check the piston extension and piston return spring (located under blade sight). if these parts get coated in too much oil and powder or rust from the corrosive rounds it will affect the rifles abillity to cycle properly and combined with a dirty bolt it's just asking for a slam fire or a runaway gun.
If you are interested I have a .pdf manual for the SKS. More then happy to share if you would like.

Yeah link me up with the pdf, im not too sure how to inspect the piston extension.

I have had the bolt apart on my other SKS a few months ago, but my memory is not exactly too hot...

Jimbo, if you can send me a link to the PDF too that would be great. I have some cleaning questions, but I can save that for another thread.
