This thread will probably end up not being in the right section but does anyone one of any decent bolt action in 7.62x39?

Thanks for the help!

There's the Norinco JW-103. Goes for about $300 (when Marstar has them on stock), and you see them occasionally on the EE.

Remington 799 comes in 7.62x39. Both it and the JW103 are decent rifles. Bolts are a little rough but they shoot well. The Rem is a little prettier with its laminate stock. I have both.

I've had nothing but good experience with CZ. They're making themselves very competitive as of late. The only 7.62x39 ones I've fired are semis but I've tried their bolt guns in other calibers and found them to be very nice.

Yes! Thanks!

Is there a lot aftermarket parts for CZ rifles? Not very familiar with this brand.

I know there's tons of parts for 858's and CZ-57 pistols. There should be a fair bit of parts for others I would think I haven't really looked for the other guns as much

As far as bolt x39s go you can't beat a CZ 527.
I know a gent who has one and I can tell you it's a sweet little rifle. Very accurate, ridiculously so if you reload for it. However, there is not much in the way of aftermarket parts.

I have recently aquired a jw-103....fellow CGN'er from the EE (there's still a couple there I beleive, also called bushmaster) Love it!

I have been in the market for a 7.62x39 boltgun for over a year. Explored different options...too broke to re-chamber (despite how well Miltonbradley and, some other fellow cgn'ers did with theirs), I bought a 30-06 with intentions of jamming a chamber adapter in it. (Also good to convert .308, 7.7 Jap, French MAS etc...) seeing as how it was a "cost effective" process and, reverseable.

Then this JW-103 came along...couldn't resist. Means I probably will dump the 30-06 now...

As stated, there's a few different manufacturers who made them but, they are still something you'll have to watch for or, build yourself to enjoy!

Ruger Hawkeye compacts are chambered in 7.62x39. They are neat but pricy lilttle devils, 16" barrel and shortened butt stock, nice walnut stock. I am just breaking one in and with surplus ammo it is shooting quite well (1.5-2"). I used to have one of the older Ruger stainless steel/synthetic stocked ones and it shot really well also.

whats your experiance with the JW103 been?[with both cheap surplus as well as regular ammunition]

It's ok, and about what you'd expect for a $300 gun. Crude stock inletting, and rough around the edges, but it shoots well. If you want an entry level 7.62x39 bolt gun, it's the way to go. They shoot well with surplus ammo and better with handloads.

P.S. I have one soon to be for sale - already scoped, and with an extra mag.......
