I'm aware of the hunting apprentice program for young hunters 12 to 18 but what about people who want to bring their children or siblings along for a hunt?
Is there a provision that allows children to 'assist' in the hunt without a license? Would a CO write up a violation on a 10 year old child???
I asked the same question myself a few years ago.
I had a buddy that wanted to tag along on a deer hunt to see what it was all about.
The consevation officer's answer was: Anyone can join you and watch (but not shoot or carry a gun if not licenced). However, they are not allowed to dog (or chase) an animal or be part of a deer drive, as that is considered harassing/hunting the animal. But, up in your tree stand with you, or sitting with you on your watch is just fine.
My wife drops off my 3 girls (5,7,9) for the last two days of my deer hunt, and they have a great time in the woods. I am hoping this two days a year offsets the Disney movies version of reality that animals talk, dance, and have feelings just like people do.

My girls also get to see how and where their sausages, hamburger and their favourite meat pies come from.
Take your kids hunting and enjoy the outdoors!!
