So I figure the consensus here for M4 style stocks is that the Knoxx are very good for recoil reduction, but to be perfectly honest I find they are ugly as hell. I find the Mesa isn't too bad looking but does anyone have experience with their performance as far as recoil reduction goes?

There is no recoil reduction. It is a straight converstion to M4 buffer tube. However you can buy an endine recoil reducing buffer tube, some places sell this as a package. I have been running a low tube on my 870, with out recoil reduction, for about a year and think it is great.

YMMV

I have Mesa stocks on both my Remington 870 and Mossberg 590A1. As stated there is no recoil reduction whatsoever, in fact I think they have more kick than with the full stocks. I quite like them but I am adding the Endine recoil reducing buffer assembly to my 870, just to take the recoil element out of it (or reduce it as much as possible).

Mesa has them with and without the enidine as a package. The recoil reducing one is just that... it reduces recoil... very well. They are well made, and yes they are expensive.

Casey, what would I be looking at as a price with the recoil reducing system? Also, is there a recoil reducing system that is made for traditional style stocks like a Hogue for example? And before anyone says so, I'm already quite familiar with R3 pads :D. Thanks all for your replies.

I have a Mesa LEO kit with the Enidine buffer on my Grizzly (sourced from Casey). It does a very good job of recoil reduction, I'd say at least as good as the Knoxx. It's hard to explain, but I find the hydrolic action less jarring than the springs in the Knoxx. Plus, it feels more solid, and the Hogue grip is far better than the Knoxx plastic.

Casey at Tactical Ordnance is a master! I love mine too!
