Anyone have any idea where to find 275grain 338 Speer A-Frames?

I want to play with the big boys, but all the local shops seem to max out at 225-250grain projectiles.

PS - has anyone played with these in a win mag? How were they?

Thanks,

ST

i think you mean swift, not speer, unless the 2 firms have merged in some fashion- i used to use the speer 275, but they're discontinued- best bullet for the 338, period- only 50 fps slower than the 250, but the whomp and stomp on the other end- definately a member of the wtfwt club- the swift offering i looked up the other day was a little lowder in the s/d but higher in the b/c by a few points

All 275gr. .338 bullets will have the same sectional density - 0.344. If the Swift was different, it isn't the same weight.

The formula for sectional density is:

SD = (bullet weight / 7000) / (calibre)^2

right from the speer book- edition 11, page 272- speer 338 diameter semi-spitzer-275 GRAIN sectional density- .348, ballistic coefficient .456- the swift had .345, and 478 for b/c

so they had the same SD... 0.003? difference? are you kidding me....its just a matter of rounding up or down son. (the formula is correct)

I were loading 250gr Swift A-frames in my 338/06 AI many years ago mostly for bush hunting, they were darn expensive but acurate and unstopable with minimal weight loss, way, way better than Nosler partitions. 358 W is almost as good in bush and that is what I am useing now. Friend of a friend wanted it badly so I sold it b/c it was way more powerfull than I needed and the price was right. I still should have 2 doz of those bullets stashed away somwere.
