you can't judge one by the other- the garand is WORTH a rebarrel, the mini is not, and probably went into neverland the SECOND YOU MENTIONED MINI 14- Its a complicated affair, and there's NO guarenteeing that accuracy is going to improve IF you do it- then comes an endless cycle of you complaining that it's not accurate, doesn't work right, and i don't know what all- and him trying to please his customer- cheaper to REPLACE THE RIFLE

i simply wated to know if you can get a barrel from brownells of shillen for the mini but was totally shut down. rebarreling it aint that hard at all the shillen barrel is a drop in replacement have to headspace and drill gas port . i dont care if its CHEAPER and didnt ask for some guarente of accuracy. but ended up with POOR service and POORER attuide.

Where does one get a new barrel for a Garand? I actually signed on to start a thread about rebarreling a garand, but it was already provided for me :) . I know Fulton sells new barrels, but I thought that it would be super expensive not to mention quite difficult to import these from the US. Any Canadian sources? Fulton has them for $350 US.

There are new and used gi 3006 barrels still available from collectors of Garands. 308 barrels are harder to find.

get a barrel from Brownells or Shilen..." Not without the U.S. export permit that requires a Canadian import permit to get. Barrels are 'restricted for export' things.
Fulton doesn't ship here. Neither does Midway, any more.
Shilen doesn't list Mini-14 barrels on their site. Takes more than just a barrel to get a Mini-14 to shoot too. And it won't be cheap.
"...rebarreling it aint that hard..." Ever done it? Requires a barrel vise, a proper action wrench and headspace guages. Barrels aren't always 'drop in' either.
Accuracy Systems makes match grade Mini-14 barrels. Don't think they ship here.

Rebarrelling a M-1 with a commercial short chambered barrel is pretty straightforeward with receiver wrench, barrel vise, a method of checking the timeing, and a pull through reamer set.
A Mini-14 has an eccentric cut on the breechface. If a semi finished replacement barrel is installed this is going to have to be dealt with. Then the chamber will have to be finish reamed, the gas port drilled, and the gas block installed. Note that the Mini gas port isn't just a hole - there is the counterbore for the little bushing. Rebarrelling a Mini is somewhat more complicated a job than rebarrelling a M-1.

Garand rebarrel

Adam Lake Barrels in BC will bring in a a short chambered Kieger for you. About $480 including taxes/shipping. It will take about 8-12 weeks but the price is right and the quality is amazing. Had my Garand rebarreled in 308. the finish on the inside of the barrel is so good requires little effort to clean. Had it installed at Epps in Orilla. They did a great job. Shoots and functions flawlessly with 150 fmj. Get an adjustable gas plug from Creemore Sports in California so you can tune gas and you are off to the races. Not a cheap venture, my project is at about $1200 and soon to rise to about $1500 after park job. But I love this rifle.

blue thunder thank you i got my rifle for 300$ so im already in the cheap with it. my grandfather carried one in korea its worth it to hear bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang pinggg.
