First Handgun - Like a "Honda"

I went to Orono Fish & Hunt Club last night to check out the facility and I enjoyed it!

I like indoor ranges simply because it will be more comfortable to shoot in the winter, but the friendly people and multiple disciplines at Orono are hard to pass up!
I was offered to shoot trap (never tried it before, heck only shot 5 shells on paper from a shotgun at Target Sports) using someones gun and it was a lot of fun!
I only wanted to get into pistol shooting for now, and I never did any research on shotguns since I passed my test but I think that's going to change!

PS I hit 12/25, I'm pretty sure my first 10 shots were all air too

If anyone was there last night and reads this, send me a PM so I know who you are on here

Finally got the right magazines back from Marstar! I cleaned the gummy oil off them, that should be fine unless I get stuck in the rain or store them for a long period of time, correct?

Which gun club did you decide to join?

My suggestion is to join one where you can shoot most often.

That is the ONLY way to becoming a good shooter.

Those are identical to the 3 mags that came with my NIB 226 E2. Marked Meg-Gar made in Italy/Sig Sauer 9mm.The only difference is mine are a very dull dark green rather than somewhat shiner dark green. Mine have the long base pads as well. Basically Sig's 'factory' 10 round mags for the US states that require them (and Canada). TSC has Meg-Gar 226 mags with the long base pad in stainless for $48. I like the looks of the long base pad 10 round mags rather than the welded 15 round.

I've been looking at the M&P 45acp.. I like it but I hear a lot of guys calling M&P's girlish and to get a 1911 style... cause its manly... any veiws... I would love a sig but when i look at the $790. at epps for the S&W vs $1300. for the sig will i get the extra bang for my buck? I have used my friends sig 225 9mm its smaller but not bad..

Are those the 3 mags that came with the gun?

Hey, long time no see!

I purchased those 3 magazines separate from my p226, so I will have a total of 5 magazines (I figure it'll be good for consuming boxes of ammo, that way I can easily keep track of how many rnds I shoot by reloading all 5 mags at once then shooting them at the same time.

I went to Williams Arms today for the first time, cool little shop - had a good guy to talk to, spent some time with me showing a few remington shotguns, ruger 10/22, and the colt uramex m4 .22lr (cool looking gun but too wobbly for my taste).

I'm glad I didn't buy the 10/22 synthetic, the stock is sooo cheap and hollow it's crazy. I do however think I will buy the Remington 870 express tactical in a month or two though!

I joined Orono Fish & Hunt club ... good people there, they answered all of my questions and offered me a shotgun to shoot trap for my first time, very welcoming even though they aren't open as often as some other clubs!

Yeah... anyone spouting such BS spends more time warming their armchairs than shooting. If you like the M&P45, get it.

x2 if you like it, buy it!

I just happened to love Sig's, they are physically appealing to me, from what I read are incredibly reliable, and very accurate - so that's what I bought

Watch the boxes of ammo disappear right before your eyes....

Not sure if anyone still follows this thread, but I bought a safe yesterday and 500 rounds of Wolf reloaded TMJ, as well as a Federal 525 bulk pack

Well I still haven't received my Sig yet ... I hope to get it this week as the transfer was approved last week but it wasn't shipped by the dealer yet :(

I might buy a Norinco M4 next ... or a 12ga ... or a S&W 15-22

22 f'n pages, 5900 f'n views, and you still got no f'n gun. :p

nice safe! seems kinda empty... you plan on fixin' that, eh?

I can't go wrong with a Sig, so long as it shows up !!! Difficulty getting it shipped out on the dealers end, I understand some things might pop up but had hoped they would be dealt with faster...and the gun be overnighted to solve the delays

hey, a few days ago i shot a Sig 226 Navy, 9mm. the thing has a nice size grip for my big hands! the recoil felt soft and mellowed out, kinda muted compared to the other stuff i was shooting that day (which admittedly was 38, 40, and 45). the trigger felt vague to me, though - i guess i prefer a more distinct feel to it.
