We all know the .22 rimfire I was wondering if there is a version made of a center fire .22 ( same dimension for the shell and the lead as the .22 rimfire ).
Yes the .22 velodog pistol uses a .22 center fire round called .22 velodog also called a 5.5mm i believe it's still made by fiocchi
but pretty much obsolete now
There were CF versions of the 22 Sht and LR made but they are long obsolete and scarce collectors items.
The LR version was made for subcalibre conversion kits.
I dont believe there is, if you are talking same size brass as a 22lr rimfire. One thing though for a bit of trivia. The 22 short was the first all in one assembled cartridge. It was invented by Sharps. Forget the year.
There is a .22 Cooper Centrefire Magnum that is essentially a centrefire version of the .22 WMR.
The .22 WCF is a blackpowder predecessor to the .22 Hornet. A smokeless version was also loaded with the same ballistics. It has the same case dimensions as the .22 Hornet.
The lowest power .22 centerfire that I can think of is the .22 Morris shell also known as the 290 - 230 or something similar. It can be made from .22 hornet shortened and necked back down to 22. It was used as a training round in barrel inserts in Martini rifles around the early 1900s
