Hello and good day people.

Just picked this up from Blueline in Port Coquitlam.
The store owner Drew....extremely nice fellow.

GSG 1911 .22lr

I'm sure some of you are on the waiting list....we'll, my wait is over...time to take a look at this plinker.

Keep in mind that this was only $379 + HST.

So what do you get?......an impressive product for the price.

Decent case....I picked up 2 extra mags....$29.99 each.......it only comes with one.

Manual...2 extra sights (low, med (on gun), high)...funny 90 deg brush...open end wrench for thread cap on barrel end...and allen wrench for sights and take down screw.

A pretty decent parkerizing finish but I've noticed some wear starting on the finish as the slide goes into the dust cover area.
Wood grips are stained well and seem pretty durable......my friend's grips were stained lighter than mine.
I haven't field stripped it yet but all in all nice build...tight...and no sharp edges anywhere.

Ambidextrous safety...nice.........MADE IN GERMANY...very nice.
Recoil spring is light...I can take back the slide with just my finger tips.

Magazine is heavy metal except the polymer butt plate and follower.
Nice thumb assist lever for weak fingers like mine.

Now notice on this side...the catch near the top is the slide stop (slide stays open after last round....yeah!!!) and the catch near the bottom, near the back is the magazine disconnect....booooo!!!

GSG191122lr005.jpg

Here's the back strap....I might upgrade the beaver tail safety...it has the old GI style grip safety...I have to really wrap my hand deep in the web to make it go down.
Skeletonized hammer, always a plus.

Nice drilled metal trigger with front stippling...over travel screw and trigger pull a crisp 5lbs...approx.

The only thing that would have made this perfect are metal instead of plastic sights....hey, if you got to cut corners, this would be the only place. Mind you they are pretty durable and the neon yellow plastic plugs do show up nicely.

Here the barrel thread cap...for those interested, there is a video of this pistol with a suppressor on youtube.
And the guide rod is metal.

Maybe someone can explain to me the significance of the split ramped barrel...interesting design.

Well...that's about all I can say about this...time for the range.

Thanks for everyones time...

Thanks for posting some pics cable guy.

I just got a few questions:

How much do the spare mags cost?

Are you gonna do a range report?

Comes with 1 mag. The 2 bagged mags in the first picture were purchased seperatedly (included mag is in just a plastic bag, no cardboard piece at the top)

This is a great post and some of the best pics going. I've got my GSG but this may help others decide.
I would not hesitate to recommend one of these.

Hello people...

A little range report from the weekend....no pics though.

And to answer mmattockx....mine weighs with and empty mag 33.86 ounces according to my kitchen scale.....so still quite some heft....just 6 ounces less than your typical 1911.

As for the range......shooting freestyle with 40gr American Eagle round nose.....at 10 meters....(mind you I'm not the greatest shot).....I grouped 10 shots within 3 inchs.

This was after I changed the front sight to the highest (3 dot).
The 2 dot was factory and my shots were high.

The pistol itself fired flawlessly.....every last shot stayed open and with about 900 rounds through it.....each one fired with the occasional (about 4 in total) empty casing getting caught in the ejection port.

So to sum up the overall experience....nice.

Cheers.

The GSG is not as heavy as a full size, about 34 or 35 oz. but it feels substantial, not cheap and performs very well.
There are lots of comparisons with the Chiappa on US forums.

I want them all!!!!!! The girls too!!!:D

(maybe when the Henderson appeal is finally tossed out we'll be able to get some of those beauties like the AK and MP5 versions!!! :D)

nice, just ordered mine. Cableguy, what do you think of the grip safety? ive read that it needs to be squeezed pretty hard.

Aidrian was nice enough to let me run 100 rounds out of his today. I'm saving up to buy one. 'nuf said....

The gun appears to be very well built. The fit and finish is well above what one would expect for a $400 gun. The sights were well regulated, and the gun simply tore the center out of the target at 15 yards.

Not being my gun, I didn't tear it apart, but it appears to be almost pure 1911 in the frame, other than the screws used to secure the barrel to the frame.

Others have mentioned the magazine safety, which is a quick fix. If and when I get mine, I'll be ####caning the series 80 safety and improving the trigger. Sounds like a critisism, but it's not. Out of the box the trigger on this gun was the equal of most box stock series 80 1911's. The little creep and mush was not horrible. I just know it can be made better with little effort.

The magazines are excellent quality. Three of the four were not locking back the slide on the last round, so I'd look into this area.

The slide appears to be aluminum, but looks like it has a steel breech insert. As expected, the ejector is slaved to the barrel, not pinned to the frame.

I fired Remington Golden Bullets, and Federal Match 40gr lead, without a single misfeed or FTF.
