I hate the sights on my NP30-n, can barely see them, whats the best place to buy mepro or trijcon sights and what would actually fit the Norc?

if i recall, there is a post already started on this....maybe on the 1911 mod thread.....brownells was mentioned, and if i remember, fitting is necessary to fit the sights.

Wonder if these would work

I don't have an NP30 but I think that the stock front sight is staked in place.

That would mean either replacing with a different stake in sight or go to a dovetail front sight which means having a dovetail cut.

front sight looks like -|-

That looks like a dovesight. I looked at a picture on the Marstar site & it seemed that only the sport model had dovetail front sights.
A standard 1911 front dovetail is.330 & I may be wrong but I think that Norinco front dovetails are smaller than that. There was a thread about the weird size recently.

dammit.. Maybe I can just use some model car paint and paint it white? Why in gods name would they make a dark brown front sight dot and white rears?

I took a small drill bits and with my fingers dug out the paint and using one bristle from a paint brush applied new paint.

Sometimes the front sight is a bit greasy as well, the drill bit or a toothpick with some de greaser might change the color from brown to more of a yellow..

Nitesiters is an American company that makes little stick on dots for sights. They can be had in either a glow in the dark style (you have to charge them with a flashlight) or a bright coloured day time dots. They are self adhering but I always set them in a dot of Crazy Glue for extra strength. Clear nail polish also works. I have them on the front sight of all my pistols. If you don't like them, they are not permanent. Scrape them off and clean the sight with a toothbrush and you are back to the original sight.

If you Google, they are the first website that comes up.

These are miles behind tritium sights but they are cheap and work well enough for the shooting range.

Brownells usually not ship tritium sights as they are controlled.(thats what they told me when I tried to order) You can order 1911 sights from Fusion firearms as they will send all their product to Canada, and prices are good. I have ordered many things whit success.

The only ones that will fit the front dovetail are the ones from China.... it would be nice if the chinese front dovetail cut was standard but it's not.

You will need to file the sight to fit the dovetail or the dove tail to fit the sight or you could get a smith to mill a standard slot.

There is a thread somewhere that goes over hand fitting with dovetail files for these guns.

I would put them on the top side of the slide! :)

...sorry, I couldn't help it.

They look cooler on the side...:D
