I went out to Langley this weekend to buy some things at an outdoor/hunting store and decided I needed more .22lr ammo because... well just because... They were out and had been for two months after talking with the salesperson for a bit. He was real nice and quite embarrassed about this, but have you ever heard of such a thing, and they only had two boxes of 9mm.

So i guess my question is, am I missing something? Is there some sort of critical shortage of ammunition in town? Or is this just a simple cases of poor management?

I'm assuming you went to WSS, they never had much 22lr to begin with. For 9mm, I go to John Parsons with Custom Reloading in Maple Ridge. He's also a site sponsor now.

Piles of CCI Blazer .22LR ammo in stock here. By the brick or by the crate. ($21.99/$199.99) And lots more if we run out.

where is he at in the Ridge, its just across the Mary Hill bridge from me so I'd like to check him out for my 9mm supply. Or maybe a phone# so I can call him. I can't seem to find his banner on the site here.

So far this year have found:
out of .22LR: Bass Pro, 2 Walmarts
out of 9mm: Firing Line, WSS (Bass Pro doesn't carry)
out of .223: Bass Pro (Walmart doesn't carry)
out of .22wmr: Bass Pro, 3 Walmarts
out of .17hmr: Bass Pro (Walmart doesn't carry)
Bass Pro is on the way to my gopher fields but I don't even bother to look there anymore.

Bass Pro seldom has stock on anything useful and doesn't even list much of a variety of calibres. If it isn't a major hunting calibre like 30-06, 308, 7mm Mag, etc., chances are good they won't even have a place for it on the shelves, let alone actual stock available.

It is essentially an outdoor Wally World with a small section for shooters. I did buy a pound of IMR-4831 there a few weeks ago for an extortionate price, but I needed it for load development and they had it while WSS was out. I do my best to not shop there if I can help it.

I reload for everything besides rimfire and 9mm. My local CT has had stock in rimfire all year (albeit at high prices) and I bulk buy my 9mm from BDX ammo, so am pretty unconnected with whatever is happening in other calibres.

The Crappy Tires around me (S.W. Ontario) seem to have stopped stocking ammo of any kind except maybe shotgun shells. I don't know if it is just the city I live in or if it is becoming the norm????

If the drive to vancouver isnt to far. I think reliable gun as well as italian sporting goods should have some in stock. I saw some at reliable last week and bought a bunch from Italian sporting goods about a month ago.

I was Guilford Wally world yesterday, and there was almost nothing on the shelves.

3 boxes of .303 for $24.99! Only a few shogun shells, and a couple boxes of 300 wm.

What's going on?

22 lr

I bought some 22 lr at the local crappy tire in Orleans a few weeks ago. LeBaron's had tons of it, and one of the Wally Worlds had quite a few Win 333`s (but a lot of the Walmart`s don`t sell ammo anymore)

I never noticed... I have more ammo that I will ever use in my entire lifetime. I used to buy ammo every few weeks for about 7 years. I alway had a gut feeling that one day, ammo was going to be scarce just like gun shops. I still buy ammo occasionally when it's a deal but when it's not, I dip into my "cache"...

I've also been having a terrible time finding .22lr ammo. Most places I've tried in Regina and Saskatoon either had none, or very little (aka none after I left). I hope to find some in Prince Albert next time I visit but I'm not holding my breath...

The CT in Athabasca (90 min NE of Edmonton) has tons of overpriced shot shells. But zip for 22lr. They have some 22 shorts but that's about it. I asked when they figured they'd get more in. They figured maybe this fall.
