Neumann & co shotgun

I was just gifted a Neumann and Co double barreled shotgun. It is in exquisite shape (basically new). It has a lighthouse engraved on the top of each barrel, probably 3/4 coverage of engraving on the receiver (deep set on the top of leaves), border engraving on the barrel ends, receiver is case hardened, a 1/2 pistol grip (rounded style), with the sliding latch that comes out the left side, and the dishes that protrude from the side of the receiver and mate with the barrel.
First.......it's not for sale! second, I don't have a camera, so pictures are out of the question. Would anyone have any info on this shotgun, the company, and an estimate on what it's worth. A little bit of info would add to the joy of this new treasure.

First of all, nice gun. I have one almost the same. Bad news, not very valuable, about $200 -$300.
Neumann was a Belgian maker that made average quality guns between 1863-1957 approx.

I don't care too much about the price, though I find it odd that a gun of this high quality isn't much more sought after than say a Browning or a CZ; I would take this Neumann any day. It's fabulously well built, and obviously built to last.

I agree. I carry my Neumann SxS in 12g everyday. I walk my dogs through the bush and always load 1 bear banger and 1 slug.
Take a look at the website I posted and even send an email to Alain Trigger. He is very knowledgeable and will even do an online evaluation for a small price,(he does need pictures though).
There are examples of Neumann guns shown and one might match what you have. Good luck.
 
Sept 1-10, I definitely plan on walking a few old roads with mine. It points way better than my Mossberg 500, but that's like trying to compare a Ferrari to a Chev pickup.

That's a good price for a gun with hammers. I assumed, because Mike didn't mention his gun had hammers, that it was hammerless. Hammers seem to be more desirable and command higher prices.

That sounds like a good plan. All I can suggest is, before you shoot it, confirm that it has steel or damascus barrels. Modern shells and damascus is a dangerous combination.
By the way, what gauge and what length of barrels is your SxS?

Yes, mine has totally modern barrels, though I will only shoot light upland loads out of it due to respect..........this will not be my duck pond or bear gun, that's what the Mossberg is for. This will be my "pull it out on good days" only gun.
