Discretion is the better part of valour. He was damn lucky he wasn't hurt. His choice, his consequences if it fukks him up.
 
why wouldn't you shoot? I think the guy ducks and the rack brushes his arm if I remember correctly. Lucky guy and he made a great shot!


the world record moose, 76" rack was shot as 8 yards on the ground with compound, that guy didn't get run over :D
 
I never even contemplated putting an arrow into an animal from the front like that.....I guess there is really nothing by the way of bones to stop the shot from getting to the Heart and Lungs! Must make a mess of the abdomen though as well!
 
I got the full video in an email from a friend a long time ago, the guy got out unscratched the moose just booked it inches from him into the brush then stopped, successful hunt
 
I saw it on Bowhunter a few years ago and all he did was step back and fall on his ass. The camera man kinda videod the moose and it died right away. He got up from behind the tree and started gutting it. If I remember right the shot was seven yards.

i saw that a few years back on tv, i've been looking for it ever sence. he go's in and then quickly backs out firing a revolver as the couger is attacking him, i'f i recall it took like 6 .38 special rounds and 2-3 shots from .308's to stop it from attacking

anyone know of a link to that video? would love to see it again.

I think we're thinking of a different video :D

The one Im talking about was posted here on these forums and shows a group of guys do into a small cave after a cougar. The cougar rushes them in the cave and gets wounded but runs past the guys and out the cave. Finally the cougar is cornered on a "cliff" and the guy walks up and shoots it again (I think a couple times) until the cougar slips off the "cliff" dead.
 
The archer is Dwight Schuh, editor of Bowhunter magazine and one of the premier bowhunters in North America. He escaped totally uninjured and the moose only went a few yards off and died. Heart and left lung taken out with the shot. This is excellent shooting however the bull reacted as no other on record. There is not another video of a moose dropping his head and bolting like this one did!! Dwight thanks God for looking after him that day!!! He collected a magnificent bull and had the thrill of a life time doing it!!! If only it were me!!
