No .22LR ammo??????????????

I went out to Langley this weekend to buy some things at an outdoor/hunting store and decided I needed more .22lr ammo because... well just because... They were out and had been for two months after talking with the salesperson for a bit. He was real nice and quite embarrassed about this, but have you ever heard of such a thing, and they only had two boxes of 9mm.

So i guess my question is, am I missing something? Is there some sort of critical shortage of ammunition in town? Or is this just a simple cases of poor management?

That new store on the bypass? That store is AMAZING, I went there the other day to check it out. It's interesting that it's an outdoor store but it's "little" gun section has much more stock than any other local gun store i've been too. Except wantalls has a pretty big stash of firearms. I couldn't believe it though. And over the last year I've found 9mm to be pretty sparse around here, not .22 though. Although I haven't bought any since xmas time.

how much could shipping possibly be?

Piles of CCI Blazer .22LR ammo in stock here. By the brick or by the crate. ($21.99/$199.99) And lots more if we run out.

I'd order in a heartbeat :) , if it wasn't for shipping :( - you're a solid guy to deal with, and that's a great price....

If you like the price, and the guy you're dealing with, is shipping really that expensive? I mean if shipping makes it a little more expensive than where you are (but couldn't find at the price you remember) then why not?

Why moan about it when the solution from someone you're comfortable with is on a little more expensive. Order a larger amount than usual and then that'll spread out the per bullet cost for shipping.

It's like the $2 fee at the ATM, people will go 10 times for $20 over a month, get dinged each time (another $20 in fees). Instead, think ahead, get $200 and spend responsibly. You've just save $20! A couple of months thinking like that and the shipping is paid for!

Local Wally Mart & CT around here have a veritable borgashmord of .22 (mostly all overpriced) but I saw something last night I hadn't seen before. I was buying the Winchester 333 packs for $13.95 but now I see they have 555 packs for $19.95:D It's the usual 1280 fps 36 gr plated hollow point, same as the 333 packs! Seems Winchester are doing their best to keep prices down compared to Rem or Federal etc.

If you have a Peavy Mart near you try them. They only had in the Federal .22 in but it was 24.99 for a box of 525. $5 cheaper then anywhere else here in town. Oddly they had the small 50rd packs in to and they were only 2.29 a pack. So it was better to buy 11 packs and get an extra 25 rounds for the same price.

our local CT only orders their ammo once a year, usally in jan/feb.they get their shipment in aug/sept and when its gone its gone until next year.a local sporting goods store had 1100 22lr for 49 bucks.federal blue box i believe.but he has a lot of it in stock.

awww crap.....i just blasted off 300rnd this past weekend thinking i will pick up more soon. WTF there is ALWAYS lots of .22lr around.

Not sure what shelves in the store look like here. I know my shelves are full. I stocked up in spring. I am sitting beside what I believe the commy Canuckistan media would call a 'massive cache'. There's only one reason stores run out of ammo. Its called piss poor planning. But we all know there's some schmuck behind a counter at a (insert store name here) near you blaming the war in Iraq for their lack of .22lr

This thread spooked me so I went and bought some Blazers today. It didnt look like there was any shortage. They had a bunch of blazers and AE on the shelves.

Keep checking at Wally and CT, they do get stock once in a while and it goes on sale too. Go to the ones where chances are there is no ammo buyers in the area.
This is how I got my ammo :D

I was at the Mississauga, ON. LeBaron recently and wanted to pick up 2 bricks of Winchester Super X standard velocity. It's definitely not anything fancy but they were out of pretty much all Winchester rimfire and they said been trying to get some more for a few months WTF?

They did have plenty of Remmington though, but I have found the quality to not be so great recently.

No more Dynapoints in my local Walmart (Cowansville), just the Winchester in 555 boxes. The truncated point jams in some semis, fine for boltguns.

Just bought 2 of 3 remaining boxes of Federal 525 ($30 each ) in the CT store. Now I wish I would have bought all 3.

The "Pavillion" in Granby had a HUGE supply of AE in 400 cnt boxes for about $25, by the time you read this I may have bought it all.

So this thread kinda took on a life of it's own. It seems to have spread panic, I have in the last while however gone to CT and Wally World and seen plenty of .22lr. It was just shocking to me that a store the size of the one in Langley(which will remain nameless) was not stocking any. I was, and still am, shocked at this and had two boxes of 9mm shells.

Since then however a member here has hooked me up with a guy that does reloads and good prices and is close to me. So in the end it has kinda all worked out... Well for me anyway.

That Winchester 333box stuff is the worst .22lr I've ever used. I don't think I would buy that if it was the last box I could find.

I will take this opportunity to disagree with your comment. The Win333 is not the WORST!!! It's not even the second worst. I would agree if you said "not the best" as it certainly isn't but it is bulk ammo and for bulk and relatively cheap, my experience it that it shoots as well or better than many in its class. Having said that, I use a 10/22 which seems consistant and reliable with almost any ammo. If you are using someone elses semi auto rimfire, I can see why you are not happy but it aint the ammo, it's the gun...
