Bushnell Legend 5-15x40 with mildot reticle - Yay - ney? :)

The caliber I will be shooting with this is .243/.308 for the ranges upto 800yrds, bolt rifle. I would appreciate any reviews/comments. :)

I had mine sitting on top of my 700 Varmint in .243 and loved it. After recently upgrading to a Millet, I put the Legend onto my .222 and it works like a charm. How big of a target do you plan on shooting at 800 with it?

about 8-12 inches but this when I get my .308. With .243 I plan for 300-400 yards with target size 3 to 4". I don't think .243 will hit 800yrds but I may be wrong.:p

I have that same scope on my LH CZ .17HMR. It works great for me, though I find that the mildot reticle is unnecessary in this caliber. The optics on the Legend line compares favourably to the 3200, may even be a bit better but comes without the Rainguard.

I had one on my 700P for about 3 days ;) , Im not sure of the total moa, but you may need a 20 moa base , I have one for sale if you want :)

Exellent link! Thank you so much!

However, made me cry a little. The following means that I will "kill" the barrel less than in one year!!! :(

From the link article:

"...Barrel life is the downside of both the .243 AI and standard .243. These chamberings pump a lot of powder through a small bore. The result, typically, is rather short barrel life, sometimes less than 1500 rounds. A few folks have been experimenting with the use of very slow, cooler-burning powders. There is some evidence that the use of super-slow powders, combined with modified cleaning regimens, can result in significantly enhanced barrel life."

Ha! thanks. I saw a good price yesterday and was curious if this scope any good. Just called my hubby and gave him a "go" to pick up one for me in Wallmart for 199$. I hope I didn't overpay!

I will let you know, guys, how I like it after I test it in the range!

i got mine from wal-mart and paid 239+taxes total just under 275 and i thought it was a good price because wholsale sports and lebaron were asking the same or a few dollars less but by the time you pay shipping and wait to get it it was cheaper from wal-mart.they also had some 3-9 and 4-12 bushnell scopes that were priced even lower the lebarons or wholesale sports.i think the 4-12 is going on my 30-06 and maybe pick up a 3-9 for my 22.the 5-15 seems like a decent scope from what i saw in range performance and for under 300 bucks thats not to bad.have paid more for less.

The Bushnell Legend line was discontinued about a year ago. Good scopes but were too close in performance and price with the Trophy line so one model had to go. Bushnell sunk their money ito the Trophy line by redesign, DOA reticle option and including Butler Creek flip covers (not even the Elite series comes with flip covers). We discounted most of our remaining legends and are now sold out. Phil.
