To all M14 gurrus!

I recently acquired a UTG handguard rail and then separately purchased the rear charger rail. The issue that I'm having is that they are not level when I used a machinist straight edge. There appears to be a 1.5mm difference between heights...Has anyone else experienced this or is it simply an issue associated to my rifle?

I was planning on using Burris Zee rings, but foe them to compensate this much is asking too much.

Kind of bummed out since I was planning on mounting an inbound Millet DMS-1 scope.

Exacly the same problem :-( I am taking her out with a scope on ( in the same rings ) to see if it works tomorrow but I'm doubtful. Oh well, back to drawing board maybe LOL !

Sorry to hear that I'm not the only one.

Just don't get how they can be sold like a matching set???
I can conjure up a spacer on the mill, but just wondering what others may have experienced first.

Find the flat surface area behind the rear iron sight & place a level there. Then take another level and place it on the UTG tri-rail and make sure it's level there too. Now once this is done it's time for the charger guide. take a square tool and tap it until it sit's flush with the front hand guard. Both vertically and horizontally. If you can not achieve this part then the dovetail could be machined wrong or the part could be wrong but either way it would be nice to see a pic if possible to better understand what is really wrong with it.

Because it's made for airsoft.
The Truth Hurt's Farmboy :p
To resolve this issue on mine I ended up getting a LaRue SPR-E model and it worked beautifully. As everyone knows if these two mounting tab's are not perfectly straight it will play havoc on your scopes. Here is a pic for you to better understand what I am trying to explain;

Also M14Doctor in 1 of his thread's showed us a prototype of a awsome fix for this issue but un fortunately it's stuck on Dlask's back burner as they think it won't sell;

So if you like this idea like me I would reccomend bombarding them with email's to make them.

just getting my ducks in a row kidz hehehe. dlask has been exceedingly busy with thier new 10-22 type receivers and the massive interest in that project has delayed many things. nature of the game, and i can't complain ;) They can't make what they don't have drawings for ..... as i have those with me now ...... as i might have a solution in the works that could see the rail availlable soon though, i'm working on it. (so please don't bombard dlask with emails hehehe)
i finally have my new stocks availlable and that has taken massive time and resources to get up and running. The next couple months will be very busy with stocks n such but at least now i can start getting some of the accessory projects moved a little closer to the front burner :)

Doc,

If you have a spare laying around, I would love to have one asap since I want to take my lady shooting for the first time and she's been drooling all over the M14!

I'll see if I have any spare 4140 in the garage to mill a spacer out of in the next couple of hours...

Just to update on this issue,

I have ordered an American Defense Recon-X mount for my newly acquired DMS-1 scope.
Just hope that this pricey mount will solve my issues altogether.
