So I've noticed all over the place warnings to clean your guns well if you're shooting CORROSIVE 7.62X39 ammunition. This might be a stupid question, but I don't know, so I have to ask.
Is ALL surplus ammunition corrosive, or just some of it? And if only some, how can you tell if yours is corrosive or not.

There is lots of milsurp/corrosive ammo out there. In general, most ammo produced after 1970ish is not corrosive. Shooting corrosive ammo is not a big deal, you simply have to clean your firearms properly when you're done, which should be normal standard of procedure with any firearm, ANY ammo. The corrosive salts are from the primers and is easily washed away. Any gun solvent will do the job. Some use windex or water and simply relube as part of normal cleaning.
 
ya there alot of different countries that u can get from. there is russian i have some chinese theres also i believe old east german and albanian. most countrys surplus would be corrosive. they say that the later production stuff like the 90s isnt, but i still wouldnt trust that and would deffinently clean well just to be safe its really not that big deal these guns are ment to be used with this ammo so they are also ment to clean easly. there is ammo u can by thats non corrosive but its very expensive as is all bought rifle ammo so u will pay high prises for it. :dancingbanana:

I can give people prises for ammo?
 
ppu is $16 a box for 20
S&B is $20 for a box of 20

They are not surplus but are non corrosive.

so for 500 rounds its 500 bucks

or you can get 1120 of surplus and just clean ur gun after shooting it and get it for 170.

I go for the 170 route, I found once u get to know your gun a good 15 mins is all it needs to clean your gun (i own a cz 858)
