Need some advise as I am 50/50...

... On which hunting rifle to get next. I have been reading up and want to get my next rifle in a WSM. I went down to one of the stores and they have a sale going on, I found two rifles I really liked the feel of and they are the same price, comes with rings and scope attached. I am debating between:

Sako A7 in .270 WSM

&

Tikka T3 Hunter Stainless in .300 WSM

I did a search and could not find very much about the Sako A7 on here, but on other sites the general consensus seemed to be that its a bit of an ugly rifle but it more then makes up for it in performance. The Tikka T3, especially that model has a nice look to it and performs well too. So from people who have either fired/own either or both these rifles what are your opinions?

I like the Tikka T3 Hunter Stainless, have one in 30-06. Never tried a Sako A7. But I do know that the wood version will kick less then the cheap synthetic stock, if that matter's to you. Good Luck

Both are great guns and great calibers. Personal preference should rule. I like anything with a 277 bore so that is the way I would go. Its like choosing between Porsche and Ferrari. Neither will disappoint.

did you just compare a T3 to a Ferrari? you need to put down the glue.

A7's actually have different' action lenghts unlike the T3.....Personally If I were to buy a Short action CAL....I would like in a short action.

Doest' make a big diff in the end but what is the point in buying WSM in a long action ?

May as well get a 300 WM

According to Sako themselves, the A7 is positioned "in-between" the Tikka T3 and the Sako 85, which would suggest it's "better" (or at least more expensive to produce). I prefer the A7 myself since it is an actual "short" action designed for the WSM rounds. The stocks on both are pretty flimsy though. They're both very accurate guns and they both have excellent triggers, and that's what really matters, but if I wanted a WSM it'd be the Sako.

Its at Wholesale Joe, the sale for those two is the rifles at cost and rings, base and a Burris Scope (250 dollar package) for free. They seem to have another 15-20 rifles as well that are 100-200 dollars off of the rifle itself.

I went back again to look at them today and the Sako's plastic stock seems to be a growing negative for me. It seems a bit cheap, and firing a .270 WSM I am not sure how well it will hold up long term and the same could go for my shoulder. I am leaning heavily towards the Tikka T3. I only have 1000$ or so in the budget otherwise I would be looking at maybe the Sako 85 or other rifles in the 1500+ range.

Son-in-law just bought the Sako A7 in 270 WSM just like the one in pic, he's pretty cranked about it. One thing to note about it is that it comes with a match grade barrel...although the T3 is incredibly accurate as well.

Same gun I have on wish list some day.

He bought a Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40 to sit on it though.

T3s are awesome, too. Can't go wrong with either.
