Does anyone know of a place to get one of these for less than the 700 hundred dollar price at leverarms?

And I also have a couple questions about it:

Being a restricted firearms, would it be illegal to use this to hunt with?

Is it considerably more accurate than an AK?

$700 is a good price.

VZ-58 is restricted, thus you can not hunt with it.

CZ 858, which is functionally identical yet has a longer barrel is legal to hunt with.

Not so you would notice.

really? from what I have read the CZ 858 is simply the name given to the civilian version of the VZ 58 with only semi-automatic fire as opposed to semi-auto and fully-auto like the actual military VZ-58.

And you say 700 is a good price; but can I find it cheaper? Wasn't the one from marstar only like 500?

If you find it at that price in Marstar, it is likely out of stock.

You can't use a restricted firearm for hunting. It only goes to a gun range.

for the quality of the gun your getting for 700, its a great deal with 4 mags and a cleaning kit. My suggestion is to get the CZ 858 so u can hunt with it and pay the 700, you will not be unhappy with the gun thats forsure. I hunt and target shoot with it and i am very much happy

$695.00 ($700.00) is the standing price for a brand new one across Canada for dealers. Occasionally you find them cheaper on EE used. The less the rifle has been shot out, the better.

Yes buying it new gives you the chance to make sure its cleaned and oil right. Most of the ammo shot in Canada is Corrosive so if u buy it used it may already have issues from not being cleaned right.

I think it was Milarm that had a blowout around $500 for a while a few years ago and that was about the best ever dealer price.

if you are looking for a restricted then i would suggest you look at the CZ858-4, the used one shows up on EE once in a while , more often than the VZ58S.

yes the VZ58S were selling for $500 on EE a couple of years ago but marstar they havent brought any in since so the price has moved up to $600.

im afraid you are alittle late for $500.

i bought a slightly used CZ858-4 for $600 6 months ago.

CZ-Non Restricted

Do yourself a favor.
Buy a CZ for 700.00 and drop another 200.00 on a crate of ammo.
These are great rifles BUT don't get sucked into trying to turn it into something it's not.
It is not a precision rifle. It is a battle rifle.
The iron sights are solid on a 12" x 12" target out to 300 meters.
I'm sure there are some guys out there who can boast long range hits with the CZ, however, with enough dicking around I can turn an 82 K2 Blazer into a dragster.
But why?
Awesome CQB rifle once you add the ambi charging handle and cut the trigger guard tab off to expose the mag release.
Inexpensive HARD HITTING ammo.
SUPER simple design.
Very few moving parts.
I have heard some AK guys down south murmuring about it being a better overall rifle than the AK.
I've trained with the AK and I like my CZ and VZ better.
That is my 2 cents.

Go for the 858 as it is more than worth it just to hunt with such a gun. This may be your last chance to do so the way things are going politically.

The poor articulation of the names of firearms on this forum never ceases to amaze me. The name "CZ-858" does NOT mean the version of the gun that has the longer barrel; it is infact the name given to BOTH of the versions of the Vz.58 (the standard length barrel and longer, non-restricted longer barreled version) that are available in semi-automatic version to the civilian market in Canada.
