hey all. i bought a used 550b from a local shop. i price was beyond incredible, i got with it the reloaded, .38 super dies. i media/case separator, a digital scale, and a tumbler. my issue is that the scale, using a 700 gr weight is reading 706.8 consistently. i know i could just subtract that when reloading but iwould rather not have to. i called dillon twice now, the first time they told me to make sure that there was no wind blowing across the face of the scale, check he weight on another scale, and try switching plugs as the voltage might fluctuate at that spot. i did all of this and even brought it back to the shop to have the guys check it out. the came up with the same problem as me. today i called dillon again and they told me that the scale is only warrantied for a year. the guy told me that the scale i had was at least 4 years old. so, what it came down to was that i could send the old scale in, and they send me a new one for a cheap price of 85 dollars.
so im fine with that, i can buy a new hornady scale for cheaper.
my problem is that i bought this product for its exceptional warranty. i have heard to many good things about their products and service but now im feeling like its not working for me when i need it. should i call them back in a bit and not tell them that i bought it used? usually i would hear a story about how the guy called them and they were more than happy to send a new scale out for the price of shipping. does this not happen or did i miss understand all those stories that i have heard? i dont know what to do guys. any help would be great. let me know what i should or should not say when talking to them or if i should just not be bothered and buy the hornady scale for 65 bucks instead.
sorry for the ramble.
thanks in advance, nate
