A question to the M14 Gurus (*cough*, *cough* Different, H2O Man, M14Doctor, Claven2 *cough*) on the American Army M14 EBR...

Though some minor details can be found in this great post by H2O Man, http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=454517&highlight=EBR , I was wondering if any of you could give me the specs and details of the M14 EBR used by the American Army in Afghanistan. I have been looking at various M14 types and "models" trying to decide which avenue I want to go down for my next M14 build (yeah, yeah.... I know I'm not totally done my first one! :p ) and I really like the looks of the EBR.

I am hoping to find out as much as I can in order to build an M14 EBR as close to the American Army model as possible. I thank you in advance for any and all help.

I must profess that though my past experience is rooted in the non chinese type m14 rifles, my current expertise and practice is the chinese versions of these rifles. I have never committed to memory much of the history of the rifle in u.s. service. H20man and Different however.... would be authorities on the subject ;)

For the best results build your copy of the TACOM M14EBR-RI on a Chinese
receiver or one of the new receivers SEI is coming out with sometime this year.

Details needed to build your very own copy of the TACOM M14EBR-RI are posted on The M14HDW Forum.

I think it depends which version you are thinking of. When most people say "M14 EBR" they usually mean the Mk14Mod0 EBR like this one:

For starters, you need a Sage EBR chassis stock, smith Ent vortex FH, gas lock front sight and the Sage rear scope base. After that, add Leupold MkIV rings and the appropriate optic and you'd have a reasonable facsimile.

Short barreled M14s in SAGE EBR stocks are MK14s as in: MK14 Mod 0 & Mod 1 plus the MK14 SEI.

Full length M14s in SAGE EBR stocks include: ARMY M14EBR-RI, MARINE M39 EMR and my M21A5 Crazy Horse EBR ;)

That is perfect! I just registered on the site and saw the thread you directed me to; exactly what I needed. Thank you!

Absolutely gorgeous!

I am blown away by the SAGE M14ALCS (mod 0) stock; definitely the one for me. I will now commence trading, buying (and saving) to begin my build of a TACOM M14 EBR-RI. (Note: Also accepting donations! :p )

Thanks again for directing to the M14HDW forum H2O Man, there is a ton of great material there, and most importantly, the shopping list for the M14 EBR-RI!

From a practical perspective I'm not real fond of the cheese grators, too many nooks and crannys to get dirt and dust in.

The EBR is cheaper especially when you factor scope mounting in.

Love the Mcmillan MFS-14 though. I wonder what the weight difference is?

TACOM Rock Island Arsenal has built/converted 5000 M14 rifles into M14 EBR-RI configuration
as of 05/ 2010. TACOM has funding for another 1,200 rifles. The M14 EBR is alive and well :D

Holy cr@p Batman!
I thought that this platform was going to be elimated by 2012 but I guess you just can't keep a great platform down. Just 1 question to all you MBR fan's...
Everyone know's Ma Duece is the longest running service rifle in the U.S. but what is the runner up?
The M14 plaform???

Is anybody aware of any Canadian sources for the M14ALCS stock?

I have emailed Sage and asked them, but I suspect a reply may take a while.

Sage stock just started to arrive on the Canadian market. Two months ago I started a thread on this topic (Battle rifle forum). You will find a few dealers in it.

Thank you. I checked out the thread, but did not see any dealers listed :( I did however see someone make reference to DelSelins, who I have messaged to get more info and find out if he has any in stock.

Also, I noticed "ab" had made a few posts in that and other threads about "bringing some in". Is he a dealer on CGN? Site sponsor? I would like to get in contact with him if he is.

Oh well, for now I will just wait to hear back from DelSelins and hope he has some in stock...

Beside DelSelins, you can also look with Fabsports but it seems he's out-of-stock, no longer displayed on his website.

To my understanding, Ab is the exclusive Sage importer. He could tell you who are the half-dozen dealers and when the next shipment will arrive in Canada.

I built my CrazyHorse EBR Clone from the following:

-Sage EBR Chassis (2nd one to come into Canada..:D)
-Smith CrazyHorse 1 in 10" Med. Weight Barrel ( 1 of 3 in Canada)
-Unitzed USGI Gas Cylinder
-Smith DC Vortex Flash Suppressor (With Fake Smith "can")
-Rooster 33 Gas Lock Front Sight
-Norinco Receiver
-TRW USGI Bolt
-Rooster 33 NM Op Rod guide
-USGI Op Rod Spring
-TRW USGI Bolt
- Rooster 33 Over sized Bolt Latch
-ARMS 22 QD Rings With Tac-Rail
-Leupold MK4 3.5 - 10 X 40mm Scope

It was a fun project...............Cost a LOT of money though, so beware!!!!!!;)

Only Pic I can find at the moment............when I had the Leupold MK4 1.5 - 5 X 20 MR/T mounted on an ARMS Mount........
