For those who have bought one of these rifles, what will be your first hunt with the rifle?

I'll likely pack it in September for an elk hunt .......pics to follow ;)

If they make it in time (read Customs gets off their butts) I'll take one to Nunavut on 20 August, then back into the NWT with caribou, wolf, and wolverine on the schedule (hopefully no pain in the ass grizz'). A couple of weeks later it'll go for moose and then then deer in two provinces. October and November it'll go somewhere, just haven't decided where. It would be a good rifle to do the North American 30 with, just for fun!!

First opportunity would be a woodland caribou hunt on Merasheen Island in early September, but there's a Sako ahead of the Ruger in the queue. Otherwise, possibly a black bear hunt later in the fall.

I'm tempted to get a 2.5X on mine and take it on the annual moose hunt in late Sept.
:)

As for a timeline, the rifles are sitting in MT. I've looked at a few and it looks like we did quite well on the wood!
Paperwork on US side is just about ready and then a few days in customs in Canada and they will go out. Many have now paid in full so there will be no delays there.
I'll keep updating as the rifles move toward Lloydminster.
Too bad the Yanks have a few already!!

Some of the prideful owners in BC will engaged in a "group hunt" this season. The desired quarry will young, willing bucks.

Almost sounds like we'll have our rifles in the next few weeks- maybe??!! I paid mine off when it first came out that they were built- can't wait to get my hands on it!! Oh ya, as far as the first hunt? Probably black bear in September!!

Good to hear that we are getting some nice wood, please make mine extra special:p:)

John Barsnes mentioned on 24 Hour that he bought one off the shelf in Montana. I'm jealous.

My first hunt with it will be November blacktail in the thick coastal jungle.;)

oh yes, hopefully, its a matter of a few days until they ship but be prepared for a couple weeks. :)

This is a solid, reliable and powerful rifle. It may be my advancing age/eyes, but to me the notch in the rear sight is too fine. I used to use a small file to make it a square notch, similar to a pistol rear sight. I found this easier and faster to use - and the rear sight blanked out less of the target.

Oops. You guys are taling about the RUGER. I was thinking about the real No 1 303.

Somebody needs to take one of these on an African plains game hunt...

If everybody would throw in an extra $200 with their 303 purchase, I'll go and post pics ;)

Seriously though, how amazing would that be?!

Regardless, we'll need a thread of hunting pics with these rifles started soon.

You buggers are making it harder to find brass for me. I burn a lot of ammo through the No4MKI.

What are you guys getting for groups with this new fangled 303? Post pics of your rifle too!
