Hey all, I just completed my training for my PAL/RPAL !! HAts off to Silvercore Training for their brilliant course ! I have joined my local gun range and am excited about purchasing my first hand gun. I am set on a Beretta 9MM. for my first..... Any thoughts out there on Norinco? They seem too cheap... Anybody own any of these? Let me know what you think??

Thanks. Oramac21.

Welcome,I have a freshly minted PAL and didn't waste any time getting my first gun a .22LR pistol,I have an 1851 Colt Navy reproduction on order should be here around Xmas. I used to live in Penticton so know the area all too well. I have a Umarex Beretta 92FS cal.4.5 (.177) pellet gun which I have had for years, planning on taking it to the range on the weekend. Can't shoot it around here too many by-laws. Catch up with ya later..........cp:.

I too am in Westbank!! Small world. I got my eye on a Beretta 9mm, would really like an Italian made piece. Really looking hard at Norincos 1911, just don't want anyone snickering at me on the range!

Hey Skinny! I too have the same Umarex/Beretta! I have sweet little range in my basement I like to play with on occasion. I like the blowback action, awesome for a pellet gun!

Actually I have 2 Norincos, 1 x type 54 in 7.62 x 25, good for tinkering and those long winter days, is fine now but like the 213, make sure where your hands are.

I also have a NP-28, the former owner spend $300 on target hammer, trigger job (now crisp 3 pounds) and so on, glad I didn't have to pay that.

You are better off starting with a used good gun out of the box, like a used SIG-226 can be had so cheap now (there is one on the EE with 4 mags for $620) or I just bought a used Glock 17-3 series with 4 mags for $500.

Norincos are $350 new with one mag, plus tax plus shipping, ouch, still too much for that kind of gun.

Nice to see some fellow Okanagan folk. My best friend got the Italian 92FS and they are well worth the money. Very light, easy handling. Really nice guns. I'd almost say just to go that route. You do get what you pay for.

Not sure if anyone does it around here but if you can find a club that does some trial use on the range try a few guns then decide on something.

Hi guy from the okanagan valley, when i was young,,,is there a long long time a go, i work in that valley, is a very good remembrance, british columbia is great!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the forum! When you go to the range there are usaually others shooting as well. This is a sport where everyone likes to talk about and show off their firearms. Just by this method, I've tried at least 10 different firearms and let countless others try mine! Enjoy yourself and remember safety first. And also remember that you are representing all of us, and it is a world that doesn't like our choice of sport so act responsibly. Not like the JACKTARDS that haul microwaves and TV's and such up into the forrest and shoot them then leave them to contaminate the environment.
regards, Hitch

Hey, No worries there. I am very pro-active when it comes to safety! Not only in the handling of firearms, but in all aspects. We all want to go home at the end of the day with all our pieces!! (preferable stilll attached)

P.S. Always listen to the safety advice of a three fingered shop teacher!
