Condition is everything, including the headspace.
All No. 5's were made in the same 2 factories, ROF Fazakerley and BSA Shirley. Some body who wants one "that saw combat" might pay a premium, but otherwise, they're all the same. Condition is everything, including the headspace.
History etc., is here. http://www.enfieldrifles.ca/ri.htm
The exterior condition is pretty good except for the filed down bayo lug (WTF?). The bore has seen heavy use. I was hoping the fmp marking might up the value enough to make it worth it to replace the flash hider.
No it won't hurt the value, but I don't think it would add to it either. I had it out on the range today & its a surprisingly good shooter with privi ammo. I love it when that happens, you look down the pipe & "Aw crap, I won't be able to hit the berm with this" & it proves you wrong. Is shellac the appropriate finish for these or was that a century improvement?
